Samsung I9300 Galaxy S III vs. HTC One X: Alien vs. Predator

11 May 2012
There's no battle to end all battles in this industry but there's no point either trying to reason with two deadly droids, armed with the latest technology. We have two of the season's hottest smartphones in combat mode and Android supremacy is...

Is it possible you could compare to 2 phones audio output to the Motorola Atrix 2. Its import to me because I have a sensory hearing defect. Are they as loud as the A2? Call, speakerphone and music player. Its important to me, and it apparent that your the only ones that do a Co.rehendive audio output comparison as part of your reviews.
thank you!

My first smartphone was the HTC hero which was absolute rubbish however HTC have really redeemed themselves with the OneX but the S3 looks like a bigger and better version of my Galaxy Nexus which is no bad thing because I love this phone!!!

Kviz, 18 May 2012Just because the S3 will be the most popular and successful... moreThe S3 feels better in the hand actually.
The S3 is MUCH faster. Exynos has massively higher memory bandwidth, making everything smoother.
A few games are THD, but not many. People said the T2 would clean up for games but we ended up with about 10 that were no better, its the same with the T3.

Dropbox i all well and good, but it requires more power to stream over the net than read from an SD, plus what if you have no signal, no wifi, or limited data?

If I had to decide right now I´d go for the SGSIII, real winner in this comparison, despite the fact that GSMArena tries to be politically correct by giving a "tied" result. And apart for this, for obsessive flashers like me, SGSIII will be the main focus of the development community in XDA (check SGSI and SGSII forums), so lots of fun are guaranteed. But anyway I will wait for NoteII, my hands are big enough for a real beast like that.

in design and quality for one x,in performance for sgs3,i don't think so,the true best in perfomance phone is the htc one s,,it's dual core but it beat's out the performance of s3 and one x..

I was really tossing between the 2 but I think now have settled on the SGS3. I currently use HTC DHD and quite happy with it. I'm changing phones towards the end of the year when my contact finishes. I wanted to try something different and I'm favouring the S3 over X1 for these reasons:

              1. Better battery life in all tests.
              2. Better quality video and pix.
              3. Availability of the expansion slot (you never know when you might need it)
              4. Replacement battery option
              5. Face stay feature. Always will be a handy feature
              6. Slightly bigger display
              7. Bundled innovative soft suite (this is what Samsung concentrated on in their demo)

I could live with the "ugliness" as I wont see it when the phone sits in a protective case.

HTC one X stands no chance against the mighty samsung galaxy S3 in any of the departments except its looks.

Kviz, 18 May 2012Just because the S3 will be the most popular and successful... moreThat is just so typical. First off you cannot compare this to iPhone. This is selling on popularity because the galaxy series got somewhere by being the best. Not coming out with an over priced logo.
Next how can you sit there and say that the S3 is not and will not definitely be better? You just sat there and made an enormous list of everything that made it better and none of that was important to so there for all those important features mean nothing. Extreme contradictions.
Smiled worst contrast? What drugs are you on? Cartoonish? What other drugs? Contrast on smiled is unrivalled and that's fact. Saying it looks cartoonish is something a jealous fool would say. If you think the colors are too much then turn them down a bit and you still have better power consumption, better sunlight viewing, true black, best contrast,

Kviz, 18 May 2012Just because the S3 will be the most popular and successful... moreHere in the US, the One X is coming to bat with only 16 GB of onboard storage, some of which will be consumed by the OS itself, far less than the 32 GB of the S3. Both will use the same non-Tegra S4 processor in the US, but regardless of US or international, the Exynos and S4 can both easily emulate and activate the Tegra-"exclusive" features of those games. The One X's screen is definitely brighter and has slightly more realistic color reproduction, but it is less realistic than AMOLED at the dark/black end due to not being able to produce true blacks. Internationally it's a wash but I think for the US the S3 is probably going to end up better.

I'm not going for either though, most likely. I want to see the Note 2 and the Sony Xperia GX before I decide!

Just because the S3 will be the most popular and successful phone doesn't mean it will be the absolute best one. Look at the iPhone for a good example... Samsung has an uglier design and is FAR too big (the One X DOES feel good in my hands). I honestly can't stand the AMOLED displays, the contrast is horrible, it makes everything look unrealistic and cartoonish. I do agree the S3 has a better processor, but what does it matter? New 3D games are optimized for Tegra 3. Sure, battery life is better on the S3 but honestly, it is something that doesn't bother me on the One X. It can easily survive the whole day (I do know from experience) if you don't play a lot of games. The camera on the One X is good enough and I wouldn't ask for more. The SD cart slot for the S3 is pretty much unnecessary, you get 32 GB + 25 GB Dropbox on the One X and that's enough. As for all the other features the S3 has, I couldn't care less about them. So there you go, I do admit the S3 is an AMAZING phone, but I wouldn't say it's DEFINATELY better than the One X. I would never buy the S3 simply because of the screen and the design (I've used an S2 before). Sorry for the long post.

i totally love the way you people at gsmarena pen down reviews...totally neutral-leaving it upon the users to comprehend stuff through personal interest.
not taking sides has some sort of a royalty associated with it..some other popular phone sites(wont name 'em) start taking sides right from the start of a review...

Another important feature that is neglected is the low power core of Tegra 3. One can really see its advantage when the battery tests are conducted with MP3 playback.

Samsung are not the copycats here. I would love you to show us how. Especially since they made majority of the biggest inventions and innovations for a good few years now.

Not that I am a HTC fan. I never own a HTC device.
But, just by the look of the designed. I can see the chinese company do put in more efforts and passion on themaking of this new phone.
I have played the HTC one x at future shop just a couple days ago.
IT is a really amazing phone.
