This is the tragedy of the new Sony lineup...
Last year they did the same thing "the phone market doesn't need dual core.... we can do the same with single core..." - this year "people don't want quad core... we'll stick with dual core.."
Don't get me wrong... Xperia S is a nice phone, but take away expandable memory (and battery?) and of course dual core... put it against GS3 or HOX and it looks like a medium-class handset... hence no comparison...
Even with the forthcoming Hayabusa / Mint (I think both will still be dual core) - imagine how dated and out of date these phones will be 12 months from now... and bearing in mind people will take contracts lasting 18-24 months... can you really compare an XPS with the GS3 / HOX? It's simply not future proof...
So unfortunately the answer is no...
These phones are in a different league, and Sony are severely playing catch-up... the XPS is all but forgotten.. and that's not good news for Sony... They almost had it with the Arc last year, as it had a sexy design... despite poor specs... this year it's back to black rectangles, a bit too chubby for the ladies, and last year's specs...
It'll take a lot for them to catch up... maybe 2013 eh?!?

Anonymous, 20 May 2012One X has better screen and it looks so much better. only a... moreS3 clearly have the better screen, and I do not think the boring brown/grey One X looks good at all, and everybody do not have the same taste so just because you do not like the design is not the same thing as not even more people, already 9 million preorders, actually like the S3 design! Only 26 Gb available on One X is definetly not enough for me, because I have more than 35 Gb of only apps and game data on my S2 and more than 5 Gb of music and on longer travels by train I ususally have a lot of movies, so I will use a 64 Gb sd-card in my preordered S3! A replaceable battery is very important because when/if the battery becomes bad or old on One X you have to buy a whole new phone but on S3 I easily, by myself, can replace the battery with another cheap battery and not a whole expensive phone! HTC Sence is boring and old and is very slow and use a lot of ram, but the new TouchWiz looks really good and is a lot more userfriendly!

Why No dedicated camera key??? is it hard thing to do? its so hard to take picture thru touching the screen... thats what i like about SONY OR SE all their phones has dedicated camera key

I think S3 is one of the most, if not the most, beautiful phones ever! "its materials look better in person than they do on photos" "the Samsung Hyperglaze coating makes sure the S III doesn't look like a $200 handset in real life as the press photos suggested. Hyperglaze basically means that there's another, see-through layer of plastic on top of the back panel - similar to what we saw on the Meizu MX. This layer helps mask some of the fingerprints and is actually decently grippy."

GSMArena reviews are the best and they're great fun to read (loved the Alien vs. Predator title you came up with in an earlier article!). It's nice to note that your reviews are very balanced and never condescending. Wish you would start video reviews too.

Anonymous, 20 May 2012i dont like it specially the design its awful I ll know for sure if it's really ugly in real in about 10 days, i got one preordered (sorry guys, i need a shiny new phone) to swap my S2. And as some people said, i watch mostly the front / screen, phone is upside down only to mute an annoying ringtone (touchwiz feature).

It sounds like the perfect phone but obviously you wont mention any bugs that it has straight out of the box which will flood the forums with user issues.. hence, Samsung Nexus Galaxy

Or do you prefer to the comment area to be biased towards Samsung, and not to hear the opinion of users who aren't Samsung fanboys. He simply posted his preference towards the HTC over the Samsung which a lot of people may be interested in. People aren't reading the review after they've bought the phone. They're trying to make a decision before they drop their money. For some people his comment may have been a tipping point. What is the point of a comment section if not to make a variety of comments either for or against the product in question.

It's just too ugly for me... I'm going to stick with my S2 and wait till the S4 - S2 will still be good till the S4 arrives. :)
