Nokia 808 PureView blind test: The sum of all pixels

14 June 2012
The Nokia 808 PureView has finally landed in swirling storms of hype. And of course, it wasn't given a chance to catch a breath. We didn't meet it empty-handed either. We had a finger on the shutter of some mean cameraphones and an EVIL digicam...

I think I've worked out the lot.

Best to worst

1. E: Nokia 808
2. F: Olympus E-PL2
3. A: Nokia N8
4. B: iPhone 4S
5. D: Samsung Galaxy S3
6. C: HTC One X

I wouldn't be surpriesed if E & F are vice versa as they are both extremely good. C is miles apart of the rest. Just a blob...

in my opinion,F is the winner,as the amount of resolved detail in ithis case is far greater than all the others,so I guess it's thanks to the "binning" magic of nokia808

                        E>F>A>B>D>C

E has the most natural look with the least amount of noise. I personally think this is pureview. Seems like SUPERPIXELS to me.

F is closely matched but you can see visible sharpening and tiny amounts of pixelation.

                        C is just a blob...

Hi... so I'm not an Expert or anything .. but since I've already got my hands on this Amazing Handset .. I've gotta say the Main attraction about this 41MP Monster is the Super ( Detail !! Detail !!! Detail !!! ) ..
so Based only on this Criteria ,, The PureView shots are :
                              1st Group >> E
                              2nd Group >> F
                              3rd Group >> F
                              4th Group >> E
                              5th Group >> F
                              6th Group >> F

F then E would be my choice

                                  E is the best

Well F leads in clarity followed by D and B. Although D and B had more vibrant colours but did not match with the F's resolution or you can say a very steady shot...no blurring.......I am still planning to buy S III so wud love it if F turns out to be Galaxy S III. A,C and E were terrible...C being the worst.

I thought Pure will be my next phone but I see that my N8 is still the best/apart olympus/. It gives less contrast an smoother tones. Shadows are also better than competitors.
                                      I'm disappointed.
Probably Nokia paid more attention to video mode and zoom factor. I hope that picture quality can be finally improved.

OK, I spent quite a lot of time looking at these pictures, did ten comparisons regarding different parts of the pictures and my findings are:

                                        6. No doubt, that's gotta be C. That one is the shame of all humankind! Looks like one that would be swept by my age old k750i! (Surely the HTC...)

                                        5. D was the next worst. Not good at all, really.

                                        4. The choice was not that easy, but this one goes to A. It produced the most fluctuating results and slightly worse average than B.

                                        3. Yeah, this is B, close to A, but not that far from F, either.

                                        2. F was really quite pleasing, I liked it, but it only deserves second place, only beating E once.

                                        1. E was the clear winner in my comparison, grabbing first place almost always.

As a prospective buyer of the 808, I really hope it's E, I think it's capable of dealing with the EVIL. F should be the Olympus then - of course, with that sensor size, it could be E, but I'm not going to vote against myself and I believe in Nokia. :)

By the way, I also think a normal poll should have been made, you'll have a hard time counting the votes, even more so because a lot of people only state which they think the 808 is instead of choosing the best.
