Nokia 808 PureView blind test: The sum of all pixels

I don't know why is everybody saying that 808 isn't good at low light... It should be even better compared to others, but in 5MP PV mode and not in full res. The real advantage of PV technology is in low light where the big size of an individual pixel is very big, more than 4 microns.

Much disappointed with HTC's performance here.HTC please concentrate on camera segment on your mobiles atleast from now onwards.
btw well done Nokia for a great mobile, which even competes with Canon and Olympus DSLRs. Great hardwork. Keep it up and you will be the No1 again for sure.

The Nokia 808 is appealing to me. I do prefer Android or iOS but my usage has changed. I own a 7" tablet that covers most of my "smartphone" needs. It comes with me to most places in my large jacket pockets. I will only need a decent phone, with good satnav, wifi hotspot and a fantastic camera.
I can see the 808PV appealing to many who just don't want "jack of all trades and master of none" which I do think applies to Android phones a lot. The phones are good in many areas but not great or perfect. iPhone/iOS does has a few great/perfect features but the major downer it is heavily restricted with their walled garden approach.
The 808PV camera is the Master!
BTW I own an iPhone 4S and Samsung GS2 both will go on sale if I end up with the 808PV.

AnonD-538, 19 Jun 2012Broad daylight? Let's see comparison shots in LOW LIGHT wit... moreLow light, high iso and 'zoomed' a bit... talking in 35mm film equivalent focal length - FOV relation:
40mm eq. for street shooting becomes a 16MP crop
50mm eq. for a 'natural' view is a 10MP crop something like 75mm equivalent for portrait shots is just 4.6MP...
To be fair, a pixel level it should perform like a compact camera (acceptable ISO400, useable ISO800), while when using oversampling (wide angle) it should perform a bit better (while detail resolve should be top notch in ideal light conditions).
However you can buy a good travel zoom camera for 200$ and a better spec'ed phone for another 200$, thus making the 700$ of the 808 a scary tag... However it is all in one package.
Symbian is sadly dead, even though it is by far the most efficient mobile OS...

If 808 doesn't look good in low light... i doubt any other camera phone would.
unless it's against DSLR.
808 and DSLR are different animals in low light.
under perfect conditions 808 and any other phonecamera are years of development apart...maybe 10 years..
by that time Nokia has an even more monstrous camera phone regardless of it's OS
