Just an additional comment, do you think then the Sony Xperia S is then really good value for photos. I am not that experienced but from reading between the lines it would appear this is a bargain to get.

best: nokia 808 PUREview
worst: htc one x POORview
hahaha shouldve used Sony's cameraphones instead of htc's
well, if putting htc's make Samsung look competitive at cameraphones department (they're one of the worst, along with Moto afaik), so be it!

Olympus haves over sharpened the photos, and colors tend to be more saturated than normal, bat photos taken with it looks worse than I saw it . My friend has it and they are more better than this.

[deleted post]My point was that in some situation, used by a proffessional and, 808 can take DSLR-like photos and not that it can compete with the best DSLRs in terms of photos, but it beats top compact cameras like Olympus E-PL2. Most people voted for E thinking that it was the olympus and it is a great achievement for Nokia 808, while we still haven't seen a video comparisions where 808 should be even better than in photos...

AnonD-51996, 18 Jun 2012After the adjustments 808's photos were just stunning, only... moreI am no fanboy of neither brand, but 808 can't realy compare with any aps-c sensor.
General APS-C>4/3">1/1.2">1/2.3" (sensor size)
28.2>21.60>13.33>7.66 (diagonal of sensor in mm)
Nikon d90>pen pl2>n 808>s3
it is better than any mobile phone there is,and haves bigger impact thhan n8 has with it`s camera when was released.

They are all different camera phones.
In a compact digicams ,sensor size is most important thing, cause the price of optics isn't expensive so there isnt a much difference ,except if it isn't signed by someone, carl zeiss,snaider,etc..... but even then is no biggie . Specs of our contenders :
samsung galaxy s3 : 8mp, sammies - S5K2P1 CMOS chip, with 1/2.3″, f/2.6, 35mm full format.
htc one x : 8mp, sensor size should be 1/3″ that is just guessing but the rest is correct info, F2.0, 28mm full format.
iphone 4s : 8mp, Sony IMX105 Exmor R 1/3″ or 1/3.2″, it was different from a few sites, f 2.4,31mm if sensor is 1/3″ - 33mm if sensor is 1/3.2″, full frame.
Nokia N8 : 12mp, 1/1.83″, F2.8, 28mm full frame.
Nokia 808 pureview : 41mp (), 1/1.2″,f 2.4, 35mm full frame.
Olympus PEN E-PL2 : 12.3mp, 4/3″ Hi-Speed Live MOS sensor, all else depends on changeable lenses.
I want to say that this is not comparable test in terms of photo quality.
Olympus is by far the best ,my friend has it and it pictures are by far better than these two I saw here, and in daylight are just a little worse than my nikon d5100.
If 808 were better than pen pl2 ,than it is on pair with my nikon ,which will be more than funny.
In second is nokia 808 for shure,by a large margin, and in third should be n8, then sammy`s s3 ,i4s ,and htc on the last place.
All lenses on cameraphones are made of 5 parts,n8 with 4 parts.
Blind test is ok thing, but exposition , aperture, and etc, shod be on the same level ,if someone wants to make photo test.
But it is very interesting for one thing, how will regular person use a camera, and what is a value for him for all these cameraphones.

And I wonder how many actually looked at the original images instead of just looking at the crops...
The differences were much clearer in the original images. For example it was clear that E had more detail than F when you looked at the originals. Also HTC looked absolutely horrible and Samsung wasn't much better with it's strong compression artifacts and loss of detail caused by the noise reduction. Clearly visible in the mountain.

Faizan, 18 Jun 2012@GSMArena: How many seconds and thirds did each device get?... moreSeconded. The current one showing only the number 1 places doesn't show the whole picture. For example it was very clear that D was iPhone, because of its narrow FoV, and I suspect iFanatics voted for it because they knew it was iPhone.
Also it was unfair to other devices that iPhone had essentially a zoomed in image, because of the 35mm lens compared to 28mm in others, that would of course show the same details clearer because they were bigger in iPhone's photo.
That's the only gripe I have with this test. GSMArena should have adjusted things when they took the photos with iPhone so, that the FoV would've been about the same as it were in other phones. Placing iPhone farther away would have been good enough.

Anonymous, 18 Jun 2012Can´t wait Nokia´s first PureView WP phone!!!That may never come. Elop has driven Nokia to the brink of bankruptcy and it'll most likely go down before any lite semi-PureView version with small sensor is available for WP.
If you want a great camera phone, get 808. Even if PureView WP somehow comes against all odds, it will be nowhere near 808 because it will have a lot smaller sensor than 808.

Ofcourse 808 wins hands down, and it must win anyhow. After all what else does this phone have except for the camera. So many bucks spent on some symbian device need some solid justification!!!

Anonymous, 18 Jun 2012First, 808 will perform worse then epl2 if zoom is used. Th... moreClueless as usual. 808 used 8 Mpixels while Olympus used 12. 808's pixel size is 3.17µm in the 8 Mpixel PureView mode. It has no problems taking good pictures in low light with that kind of pixel size.
In fact 808 can take even better pictures by going down to 5 Mpixel mode where the individual pixels size grows to 4µm. That's only slighly smaller than the 4.3µm that Canon EOS 60D DSLR has.
Your bitterness is amusing though. :D

AnonD-13349, 18 Jun 2012Yeah. Just adjust the brightness, sharpness and saturation ... more" the Olympus looks best in terms of details captured"
Look again and more closely. E (808) has the most detail. Try to look at the building afar. 808 shows more detail and it avoids applying unnecessary sharpness or edge enhancements thus maintaining better dynamics. The powerline/light posts are a good example.
