Jason, 22 Jun 2012Are you saying that DSLR without those extra lenses is just... moreYeah as the pureview is used at its maximum capacity!!it wont get any better, the canon is not used properly it should be used at its full capacity too.this line clearly shows its on automode "the Canon 550D chose to underpower its flash and shoot at ISO 400"

Anonymous, 22 Jun 2012Try to compare NOKIA 808 to samsung, iphone, sony, LG, HTC ... more@Anonymous
Are you scared or what? :D I mean, why not? It's the first time in history, when average people can put their hands on such a huge sensor. Isn't it exiting? :) Man, if the photos are really that good, I don't care if it would some sort of black and white phone OS of a 90's with Chinese (no offense) symbols on it! :) nobody argues here about versatility of DSLR's. And yes, i'm aware it's a phone, but photo tests speak for themselves. you just can't compare it with some phone. Even with the best of them. So, why not DSLR? Or even Hasselblad? :D I think it is just a plane fun! =]

Good comparison. However PureView error correcting technology performes the best with 5 megapixel resolution in limited light conditions. Therefore it would be fair to take 5 MP pictures with each camera. PureView not only reduce the image size from original 41MP, but it chooses the best pixels. So it would be good to see how good 5 megapixel pictures each camera can produce. This test would directly test the PureView technology in low light conditions.

AnonD-1479, 22 Jun 2012lol simply lol using a dslr in automode with a kit lense it... moreAre you saying that DSLR without those extra lenses is just worthless? No right? It still can produce top notch images without them.
And PureView can match them if not surpassed them.
The point of this comparison is to confirm the strength of PureView. It is not to bring down any DSLR cam.

lol simply lol using a dslr in automode with a kit lense its sure like rich fags will do ;) try to put top of line L series prime lenses shoot in RAW format and re-do the low light test i guest the pureview will lose badly with an f 1.2L or give it to a better photographer!!! even the nighty fifty 1.8 will rip apart the pureview.Compare things like Depth of field, dynamic range,Colour Accuracy !!

Anonymous, 22 Jun 2012Try to compare NOKIA 808 to samsung, iphone, sony, LG, HTC ... moreGSMA compared the 808 pureview to DSLR because no cameraphone/smartphone can match the pureview technology in terms of imaging. It's evident that 808 pureview can match even a high-end DSLR like Canon EOS Mark III in terms of image quality and details. Please read the 808 pureview and Canon EOS Mark III on this link http://blog.gsmarena.com/nokia-808-pureview-vs-olympus-e-pl2-vs-canon-5d-mark-iii-vs-apple-iphone-4s-38mp-shootout/ and see for yourself why it is being compared to a DSLR!!!!

I would like to see some 5MPx PV mode as Nokia themselves claimed this would produce the best images. I'm sure they know more than anyone else after all they created PV and took 5 years of development.

Those comparing Pureview to other high end dslr cameras please note that just like your android or iOS devices aren't bound to win when compared to ivy bridge notebooks so don't expect 808 to win against DSLRs.

Very good shoot-out! It would be nice if you compare it against different classes of compact cameras - some entry level 3-4x zoom and some high end enthusiast compact camera like Lumix LX-5 or Olympus XZ-1.
It is clear the IQ of 808 will wipe the floor with any compact camera, but you can compare them in terms of versatility, interface, ergonomics, functionality, camera extras, speed, flash performance, digital zoom vs optical zoom in smaller sensor and so on.
Because let's face it - 808 is expensive now but in 3-4 months time it will cost as high-end compact camera and such comparison will be really handy.

AnonD-29970, 22 Jun 2012:D .. Are You kidding me dude !?
..
if You're an Android ... moreYou do not seem to understand. I AM FOR NOKIA 808 PUREVIEW. In fact, I'm helping it by selling it at low price here in our region.
What I'm saying is that the Nokia 808 PV should have more extensive product comparison for customers to choose from.
Ask first before shooting, it's more polite.
