Did anybody notice that the Pureview supports video playback in ALL formats? Even DTS and AC3 which even android can't.
What amazes me the most is the sheer capability of symbian. Whoa! it manages to play those 1080p MKVs on a single core 1.3gHz!! That's like pulling a train not with a locomotive but with horses. Even my old laptop's core2duo struggles to play this.
I'm pretty sure that this phone will come through battery test with flying colors. It's been so long since I saw a symbian being battery tested.

From review: "You can't put folders within folders though (not that you'd want to do that anyway)"
Why not?! I've done that in my PC always and it really helps in keeping things organized. That's how desktop OS's have always worked and there's nothing wrong with it. Quite the opposite.
I never understood the complaints about folders within folders in smartphones. How stupid must you be, to find that too complicated?!

amazin review GSM arena, really informative, detailed and easy to understand! i take my hat of!
808 really looks good, i never espected symbian to look that snapy, and it is a complete multimedia phone, just needs some adjusts in the video and media player and we are done.
congratulations to nokia, you proved to the world what innovation is about.

Blown away both by the review and the phone. Earlier I was planning for sony Xperia S but now will buy this one as it costs only 4000 bucks more than the Xperia in India. Rs 4000 = $ 70
Besides I am not buying a phone for gaming, I already have xbox for that.

O and why would we care about if its pixel density isn't as high as the competition? All that matters is if the density causes the screen to look bad, something you didn't you say. Actually if a lower ppi doesn't look worse it's actually much better because it uses less power and larger pixels would be less prone to leak. That is a pathetic part of the review and some people will even take it to heart even though it means nothing and then have something against this device.
I mean the screen actually came out on top of the outdoor legibly test something other Nokias with higher ppi also Clearbacks couldn't do.
You could also have mentioned that you can actually get very good calculators fr free on the Nokia Store.
I'd also just like to mention that I am a developer and I only develop for Symbian(and a bit Meego) mostly because of Qt.

AnonD-56331, 23 Jun 2012The phone is not made from plastic like the cheap Galaxy S3... moreBoth PV 808 and SG3 are made of poly carbonate, which is basically plastic.

I'm buying this phone as soon as the stocks in stores are replenished. Which I hope happens ASAP. Right now the stocks are pretty much empty everywhere. Especially there are no white ones, which is the colour that I want.

Great review for a unique phone. But considering nokia's attempts to destroy symbian faster than we expected, i'd prefer to buy an android phone, sorry nokia but you can't support even your newest lumia. But i will still keep my 701, it's the best i have ever had.

best review done in GSMARENA so far..
i was about to leave symbian for wp.. but i miss symbian, the real matured OS.. you cannot find cons except for apps and its ecosystem..
long live symbian
