Sony Xperia T review: T-rex

24 September 2012
Back when the driving seat was shared with Ericsson, Sony was a little short of delivering a real winner in the high-end market, the company's top-range smartphones always a notch below the Galaxy S lineup and their HTC counterparts...

Widely accepted stupid criterion "Display viewing angles" by critics. I wanna ask you WHY you want to see it from side to begin with. Why it is so important. It is in your hand look at it straight. It so stupid some of the things critics discuss.

The pricing isn't so bad, as it's dropped to about 415 pounds, or 100 pounds more than Xperia S.

people and GSMARENA need to remember that phone prices change (fall) all the time... here in Croatia, Xperia T is considerably cheaper than both iphone5 and SGSIII on contract, around €130 cheaper than both.

Before you haters even go there, I have owned both the blue and white S3 also own iP5 (vodafone upgrade) and just sold my One X to get the One X+. Yes, it is not quad core but the S4 Krait processor in this phone is amazing! Stop trolling please!

Tom, 26 Sep 2012Poor quality display, poor quality camera. To be a flagship... moreAre U an idiot or just pretending?! Every single review talks good about SONY's LCD Bravia Engine and how thk god it isn't amoled! 12MP camera is as good or more than any 8MP camera since is since that sells their sensor cameras to almost all great smartphone manufacterer ;) so you're just bashing SONY because maybe you had some trouble with PS3 right?! SONY may not be the best seller like Samsung, Apple or Nokia but their hardware is among the best. In Smartphone world they still the best looking phones, elegant UI's and best costumer care ;) bit it, basher!

why is it that no matter how impressive xperia t and v is for its technology not just phone wise, it doesn't seem to impress...

My problem is that I wanted to love this phone, but I'm just liking it a bit. Don't get me wrong, I DIDN'T BUY THIS PHONE YET, but wanted to. I think I'll have to wait for the Optimus G to compare them both and make up my mind.
Sony may be dropping the ball with its latest flagships which seem to be pricey and overhyped. Xperia T and TX may be good examples of that... 600 Bucks are too much for me.

Why do people care so much about quad core? Important is the performance that comes out, not by how many parts that performance is achieved.

The iPhone seems to have excellent performance despite "only" having dual core. And from all I read, phones like the XPerias or the Galaxy Nexus are very good performers for everything but the most demanding 3D games.

But if I wanted to play that stuff, I'd buy a PS Vita, much better for gaming than any phone can ever be anyway.

Gavin_Is_A_Man, 28 Sep 2012Funny how GSMArena doesn't seem to think the iPhone is behi... moreBecause the iPhone uses a totally different OS, and combined with the CUSTOM dual core chip actually it has blazing performance.

When it comes to Android phones, since it uses the same OS, one can already see that having less cores may result in lower performance, since the manufacturers differentiate themselves on the hardware side mostly.

Judging from the test photos (in the comparison), the XPeria S produces MUCH sharper images. If GSMarena didn't somehow mess up the test shots, and the T's camera actually is noticeably inferior, that's not just disappointing, it's pretty disastrous.

Ordered the S two days ago for EUR 357 (Germany - XPeria T currently available for EUR 499). Even if the T's camera turned out to have the same quality, I don't think it's worth 140 EUR more.
