Apple iPhone 5 review: Laws of attraction

28 September 2012
The iPhone 5. As in five million units sold over the course of a … weekend. Can't say no to that. This is the latest installment in the smartphone series that changed the mobile phone industry and we can understand people couldn't wait. Now, what is it they couldn't wait for?

Anonymous, 05 Oct 2012why upgrade gs2 to gs3 when gs4 is coming out in jan or febWhy are people still repeating this crap? Someone post a "timeline" pic please. The S4 is NOT coming out in Jan 2013, they're still selling loads of S2s and S3s and the Note 2 isn't even out yet.

    Iphone 5 drawbacks:
Aluminum body looks cool but is easy to scratch
Proprietary connector, incompatible with previous-gen accessories (needs adapter)
The new display is not proportionally bigger, but only taller
Unadapted apps run letterboxed due to the unusual resolution
    nano-SIM support only
Apple Maps app not up to scratch
    No USB Mass Storage mode
    No FM radio
    No stereo speakers
    No microSD card slot
No NFC connectivity (though that may be nitpicking)
Stuck with iTunes for loading content
    Mono audio recording in videos

    Galaxy Note II drawbacks:
Large size makes single-hand operation problematic
    No dedicated camera key
All plastic construction (would have probably weighed a ton otherwise, though)
S Pen not as good as on the Note 10.1

*Ahem.* iPhone 5 MUST be teh best phone EVAR!!!!!!11one

Other than the NFC (iOS got a passbook feature) nearly all the differences between the SGS3 and SGS2 are the same as the iPhone 4S and 5.

And they dont look different? One is 16:9 screen, very lightweight, and doesnt have glass on the back, and is much thinner..

You really think the SGS3 is a much bigger leap over the SGS2?

          Android users are nuts. Seriously.

android any day is the best because of freedom open os that can be rooted for better firmware not like lumia 900 which won't have better than limited wp7! so no bluetooth transfare is coming, and also jellybean is smoother with a longer battery life ! it has 60fps ui animations, screen video record and quality games and apps, hen ios and then 3rd grade windows!!!

              1. They look different.... distinctively different... it's not mere elongation of S2 that made S3.... different dimensions, different shape, different material.....

              2. Dual core S2 vs. Quad core S3 as compared to Dual core for apple A5 vs Dual core A6

              3. No LTE for S2 vs LTE for S3

              4. No NFC for S2 vs NFC for S3

              5. no voice assistance for S2 vs S voice for S3

So you think now and give some good reasons for Iphone 4/4s owners to upgrade to iphone 5.

not a very big improvement i'd say...not far from 4s apart from its camera, screen size, tweaked processor, and aluminium casing..wish it would have 4.5 inch screen, quad core processor, a nice 12mp snapper...it would be a true killer smartphone...it's all depends on how u wanna use ur phone, u like ios, take apple, u like android..theres lot of android phone out there...MOST IMPORTNT....ur budget n usage of the phone...i like bot apple n android phone...if im a wealthy guy..ill buy both of them...i have samsung s2..sony vivaz, my old n95...future plan..smsung note 2 or s3, and iphone 5...heheheheh

I just took the plunge and bought the iPhone yesterday through Sprint. I was so excited! But I've had trouble with having to tap on the phone hard and several times to get it to recognize that I'm hitting a button. The Apple ID kept asking me to do stuff and then I'd do it and try to download the app again and it would ask me the same questions all over again. Very frustrating. So I backed up everything on iCloud and then did a factory reset. When I went to get my stuff off iCloud it said I didn't have anything. Grr. So I set up everything again and so far it seems to be working but I still have to hit the screen pretty hard and often 2x. And I'm also not use to having to type an 8 digit alpha-numeric password in anytime I want to download a free app. Not sure if this picky little girl phone is for me. I had a Droid X2 and loved it. Dropped it 20 times and not a scratch on the screen. But my bill was too high so I left Verizon and tried Straight Talk. Bought a used Sii- dropped it 3 times and cracked the screen. Sigh. So I thought I'd better get under "real" insurance again and if I was going to do that- may as well get an awesome phone. We'll see if the reset fixes the problems. Holding my breath...

4G, Lighter, CPU thats hell fast, GPU that is too fast, beautiful screen, feels great in your hand.

What was the SGS3 over the SGS2? Same thing, huh?

                    Get a life loser.

This was very insightful. Even though i knew the upgrade from 4s to 5 wasnt that much i learned exactly how little of an upgrade it was. Personally i have never and will never (For the forseable future) own an apple product. I find that android being across multiple products allows me the choice i crave when i go looking for my new mobile device. The idea of having only one option is boring to me and does not interest me, nor does iTunes or quicktime (useless programs) therefore it will be android all the way for me and my awesome Galaxy S III which i will love having the knowledge is better than the current flagship of Steve Jobs fantasy. Bring on the iPhone 6 and lets see if Apple can do it without the Einstein of our generation. For the record i do believe he was a great man and i am nor will i ever speak ill of the deceased but he was all they had...JBHIFITelcoMan

iphone 5 it's a great product for Apple because people will buy it no matter what. The majority thinks that all these "new" features where Apple is really running behind competitors are Apple's innovations. My friends with iphones they really don't know the potential of the alternatives and since iphone is more expensive they just conclude it's the best. And they really make financial effort to buy something they think it's the best. So, congratulations Apple for your legion of blind followers.
