16 October 2012
Asus just announced their new Padfone in Milan and we were on the scene to cover it live. The Asus Padfone 2 is an Android phone with the rather unique ability to become the heart of a tablet, just like the original. The specs have been...

AnonD-44637, 16 Oct 2012well, I would really like to ask, there's no keyboard dock ... moreIt looks like they totally changed the connector from a 40-pin one to a much smaller 13-pin one. So none of the docks using the old connector (TF101, TF201, TF300, TF700, Padfone 1) will be compatible, sadly. But if you're buying this one, you might as well sell your old one anyway.

AnonD-55262, 17 Oct 2012Why make the phone itself so huge? To me, the appeal of a c... more4.7" is becoming standard. As an owner of a 4.65" Galaxy Nexus, I also thought it would be large at first, but becomes natural really quickly, and it's fully pocketable. Also owning a 10.1" tablet, I can tell you this STILL really appeals to me, because it means I don't need two devices anymore. It has nothing to do with wanting a smaller phone.

Does the tablet work on its own or does it require the phone to function at all?
also, short of the Asus website, where can you get this??

Why make the phone itself so huge? To me, the appeal of a concept like this is to be able to have a small pocketable phone with plenty of oomph that can convert into a tablet when required, rather than one pushing the size of a small tablet to start with!

there is no reason why any brand new android device should be released with ice cream sandwich.. Take your time delay it if you have to and release it with jellybean... the customers deserve better

Can you confirm that Asus has announced that there will be a keyboard dock for the Padfone 2? It seems that you are the only site assuming this. And I will probably only buy the phone if there is a good keyboard option available - otherwise I'll keep my Nokia E72 thank you!

I would like to know how many of you are paid by Microsoft or if it's just one.
WP8 is total useless, ugly and closed OS. And it's Microsoft.

I have always liked Asus products. However there is an inherent limitation with all things Android, and that is with better hardware you approach the capacity of a good netbook but cannot deliver on proper business integration. In fact there is a brick wall, so why bother to even produce such devices until the software is up to speed, if ever it can. For me this would be far better as a WP8 product at least. Sorry but love the hardware but would never bother to buy it at the moment. Why would you?

Cool. but the specs are identical to the LG Optimus G, both have the same processor, GPU, even the same IPS+ screen!
