Apple iPhone 5 vs. Samsung Galaxy S III: All rise

25 October 2012
When we review phones we try to put them in context, and tie everything up with a snapshot of the market and the closest alternatives. Now, we usually keep droids and iPhones separate because honestly they just don’t mix. But every now and then...

Actually it's quite interesting where all these opinions come from I myself today went into a Vodafone store and a telecom store to reach different opinions I will try and make this sound as unbiased as possible I have owned each iPhone from 3 to 4s with Apple Mac and laptop also tv and air I find apple to be such a modernised look and synthetic to the delicate eye of those who wish to have this trend of eligancy or pure genius of ongoing process change and work it had been quite a journey for apple and amazing one at that. But with that said Samsung is by far amazing with its android and damage probe capabilitys it is loved by many and used by a lot it's specs speak for itself really but actually in contest I do love the iPhone it has this comfy hard solid unique ability to it that makes me embrace it more its zen completely and utterly but so is the Samsung there's no comparisons at all just the simple fact of do you like eligancy and modernness of a brand that seems well flawless or an ongoing specs count and tech patient built software I mean it's like play station and Xbox it depends which one you look at and how ? Haha just an opinion :)

Iphone 5 must not be compared with s3 because i5 is useless. Worst specs ever on a smartphone. Come on apple fans. Get a life

The Samsung Galaxy S3 Is Obviously A Better Option And Has A Lot Features For Everybody, Mean while apple mostly only worries about upgrading its screen and its Software, Not A Lot Has Changed, And In A Market Where Everybody likes tweaking their phone, this is not good. The samsung galaxy s3 is a major upgrade from the samsung galaxy s2 and that why its better and is the smartphone of 2012 and the best phone out there, Until the samsung galaxy s4 comes out though :)

Anonymous, 13 Jan 2013The most important best thing in galaxy s3 over iphone 5 is... moreI must beg to differ! First of - Samsung did not invent OLED.
sekondly, Samsungs Super AMOLED is neither colorcorrect nor color stable.
Samsung Galaxy S III comes with a gamut of 139%, which turns images into vivid oversaturated colors, turning peoples skin orange and green plants almost radiating. AMOLED is not color stable. Because of a wild inefficiency in the blue color, It requires ten times the amount of power in order to glow as much as the green color.
This high power consumption leeds to degradation in the blue color way long before degradation sets in within the red and green diodes.
                                http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Oled_display_alterung.jpg

So you cannot trust your screen to be accurate, It will slowly but surely turn yellowish with a green hue. Samsung claims that blue will have lost half its strength within 20.000 hours - but in fact degradation is approx. four times as fast.
Due to the vast power consumption of the blue color, AMOLED is not energy-efficiant at all. The Samsung Galaxy S III display is only able to emit 224 CD/m2, less than half that of the iPhone 5, that boast light strength of 556 CD/m2
Set at same strength the iPhone 5 screen will use less than 0,3 W whilst the Samsung Galaxy S III screen will requirer 1,3 W.
The iPhone 5 has hands down the very best screen put into any portable device yet.
                                Source: http://www.displaymate.com/Smartphone_ShootOut_2.htm

In fact AMOLED has only two advantages over LCD.
                                1. AMOLEDs emits its own light, thus the vast contrast ratio
                                2. AMOLED is printed on the base material, thus Thus it can be bend or curved by using soft base material.

AMOLED will not have any longevity. It is inherently flawed by the degrading of the blue color diodes, a phenomena they yet have to solve.
Mean while another technology has surfaced: OLET - Organic Light Emitting Transistors. That technology is without the vast power consumption and has not the pitfalls of OLED.
The Technology has to mature of course, but with the shortcommings of OLED, the door is wide open for the OLET technology.

The most important best thing in galaxy s3 over iphone 5 is super AMOLED screens which is great invention of Samsung ,that feel pleasant view, comfortable for eyes and very sharp colours. That glow itself .But apple use ips lcd that need other source of light for screens where a lot of excess white light coming from base of screens which disturb and discomfort eyes and can harm eyes if you use it long time.Make sure $200 s phons are using same ips lcd screens.

Such a long and detailed review iPhone 5 vs Samsung Galaxy S III, and not one time is it mentioned how easy or how difficult the phones are to use.
As an example we can take a look on the camera interface. Cameras in mobilphones is meant to be used as point & shoot cameras. iPhone 5: Push camera symbol upwards and camera is ready. tap onto motive for AF/AElock, push Volume + button to take picture.
Samsung Galaxy S III, Push camera symbol to access camera function, dial your pin code, if you have selected to have pin code protection. Now tap motiv to focus, tap symbol for exposure correction if symbol is selected as primary shortcut, or select menu form sidebar in order to select exposure correction. slide exposure correction to correct values with slider. tap on camera symbol to take picture.

To say at least, the camera interface in Samsung Galaxy S III is extremely cumbersome and non intuitive. The chance to take a picture of something spontaneous happening is very close to zero. No motive will wait for you to get ready.
This will in veritably ensure that the camera in the Samsung is used way less than the one in iPhone 5.

As an example of this, "So Ein Ding" A danish gadgetshow on national Television had a mobile phone picture competition running for five weeks. You had one day to send in your contribution of only one picture. It must be taken with a phone, Editing was allowed, but only by Apps in the device it self.
Ten pictures was chosen and a different professional photographer chose the winner each time. Of the five winner pictures four was taken with iPhone 4 or 4S, alle very different and mostly snappy. The fifth picture was taken with SGS III and was a close up of a savoy cabbage leaf. (Stilleben)
It seems that only iPhones are able to compete within the frames of snapshots.

And this is not the only pitfall in Samsung Galaxy S III.
For instance if your phone rings from the depth of your pocket while you're outside in the sun, the Samsung will adjust screen light to dark levels inside your pocket, and you cannot read the screen at all and see who is calling.
                                    Not so with iPhone.

If you try to mail a video from your Samsung Galaxy S III, the phone will just deny it, because the file's to big. iPhone5 will say, its to big, but ask you, which part of it you would like to send instead.
Same goes for pictures. iPhone will warn you for to big files and suggest three different compression options. Samsung will just try to ship the files regardless.

And som on and so on. Why is this very crucial part - The interaction between user and phone - totally left out of the equation?
