Qualcomm never really followed the pack and license an ARM architecture, that has always been it. Which is why their cores are named 'Krait' and 'Scorpion' instead of A9 or A15. What we're seeing right now is the battle of architecture between ARM and Qualcomm(besides Apple's AX and Intel's X86)

Was very impressed with the Snapdragon S4 processor. LG did a justice to it with the features in co-operated. But updates are a big concern with LG so I wont be buying the phone. I would rather be getting the Xiaomi MI-2 or the Note II

AAL, 28 Oct 2012"So it seems we are one software update away from the ... moreLG will be ahead of Samsung always. If they launch a device that can match LG's flagship, LG will launch a better device, that's why they are always a step ahead of the competition.
And someone said that the ASUS Padfone should be named the best phone on the market. Why? It has the same specs as the Optimus G, but ASUS isn't a known phone manufacturer and these manufacturers that are trying to catch up with the big boys aren't that good trust me(Meizu, ASUS, Xiaomi, Huawei, Oppo...).

Typical folk driven by spec instead of quality..So folk show off they have fastest device but crap web browsing,,camera.video recording..I would choose device with half the power of Lg G to have better quality components video recording web browsing etc..
What is the point of having a powerhouse smartphone if its smartphone features are poor?????

Hi GSMArena, Why you Do not consider Padfone 2 phone for the crown ??? Is it not worth it (especially if we consider the price of phone only)

"So it seems we are one software update away from the moment when the Galaxy S III finally gives up its throne and the LG Optimus G succeeds it."
By then there will come the S4 with the new Exynos 5 chip.

The optimus G is really a big fail by LG
The GS3 got a better cam even that it is 8mp vs 13mp.
The GS3 got scored better in Antutu and geekbench benchmarks even with the old A9 architecture,LG failed in optimizing their software to take advantage of the krait cores.
The GS3 got jelly bean already and will get 4.2(which is coming out in a dew days) maybe a month after its release when the optimus G will still be stuck on ICS.
The GS3 got better battery-life,not to mention that the battery is removable and you can carry a backup battery.
The GS3 got a better/bigger screen, some might say that the optimus got a better screen but to me the one on the S3 is better because of sunlight legibility, vivid colors and deep blacks.
The GS3 bootloader is unlocked so it got A LOT of ROMs and kernels, the optimus G won't likely even get root access.
The GS3 will get multi-window function of the note 2 when it receives 4.1.2 update.
The GS3 got an sd card slot and can take up to 64gb of memory, tho the 32 gigs on the optimus G is acceptable.
The GS3 got a better UI IMO.

I'd prefer the most popular one "easy to root and find many custom Roms and many other tweaks "
simply s3 as it don't fall far behind.

Longer battery life and user-replaceable battery are the reason why I like SG3.

james, 28 Oct 2012a great failure for lg again, surprisingly the 5-6 months ol... moreOh well , why must you comment before read .
Note 2 still using exynos 4 so if s3 launch it now it still will be exynos 4 which making no difference to the hardware .

Alireza AF, 28 Oct 2012LG phone is really better than Samsung's one. But it newer... morelocked bootloader doesn't mean optimus G wont get custom ROMS.....its just that you cannot have custom kernels..

those thinking that optimus G is expensive, wait for the nexus 4. Its much cheaper with same hardware as optimus G and comes with stock android and will always get the first update from google :)

LG phone is really better than Samsung's one.
But it newer and it could be natural.
and everyone known this :)
But one thing exist that you dont note that. And that is LG's closed bootloader that Causes there will be no custom roms for LG's device.(Like Optimus 4X)

Even though I'm not a fan of both company, I have to say that S3 is not a clear winner in every aspect against LG. It hurts you right? Accept it dude!

Lg have to deliver timely and useful updates for optimus g if they want to win back customers...samsung provides better updates than lg bt i thnk the best among is apple....i cant believe their 3gs received ios 6 though it was launched long back....android should learn somethngs from apple among which most imp is updates that way u won't loose customers like nokia and lg did....

This comparison supports what I have been saying about hardware being far in excess of what the software can actually deliver. All these Android updates demonstrate the inherent weakness of Android which superior hardware cannot overcome. In any case the hardware is great just that the OS is now showing its structural weakness. When the hardware approaches the power of a netbook, where is the software to match. Too much time is wasted with customisation and speed of moving widgets. Great gaming devices, excellent for watching videos, good cameras and maps, same as for midrange devices! Where is the differentiation, the innovation in software now that Apple has gone to sleep.
