Windows Phone 8 review: Str8 up

29 October 2012
Windows Phone 8 is officially in the race. It probably isn’t time to count the horses just yet but Team Windows seems ready to bounce – major OEMs have backed Microsoft up with flagships and mid-range options. Redmond is doing its part with what looks like one of the biggest OS overhauls this year...

Don't dismiss a feature just because you don't use it. Many use the equalizer to enhance the sound the way they want. That's why ALL stereos have it.

To answer your question about lagging: An OS that doesn't lag is better than the one that does lag.

For the user, Windows Phone is much more customizable that iOS (obviously) and even Android.

Just try a Weather widget on Android to see the lag when you swipe to reveal it. No such thing on WP.

No one actually trying a Windows Phone says "it sucks" without pointing to a certain flaw. What "sucked"? The responsiveness? The fluidity of the OS? What was there to "suck"?

hmmmm, those disadvantages are interesting, but rly, 1st of all, do u even need a equlizer to ruin the quality of the song!? 2nd: no shortcuts on the lockscreen??? - LOL! the time u press a shortcut icon on the lockscreen(on android) i'll unlock, call, type a message, open web browser-close it and lock again (on WInMo.) .....at the end i'll just say it's all matter of tastes. Android is laggy - so WHAT?, winmo is way too faster, but not that shiny interface, so buy whatever u want and pls dont rate these things as disadvantages! it's silly

GSM ARENA says the maximum screen resolutions are still lower than Android? Um, okay; that may very well be the case, but it doesn't say in what capacity they've seen the resolution. Besides that, the obvious and amazing simplicity of the OS doesn't require expansive resolutions to win over users or make converts. We like the WP7 and WP8 for the capabilities it has under the hood. With the release of 8, the tablets that are soon to Surface (pun intended), and the flood of manufacturers and Microsoft partners, WP8 will be a super contender for capability alone.

How can WP8 be the same as WP7.X??? Aren't bluetooth file transfers, resizable tiles, multi core support and micro sd support improvements??? The UI may be very similar and that's it.

why the hell didnt they allow you to skip into videos and songs to the point where you like?

I love the whole idea and design of Windows Phone and i want to get one. but refining features like these just seem mind blowing that they wouldnt have it as standard in this day and age.

Add this god damn feature you lazy ass developers
