Sony Xperia Z review: Zero hour

17 February 2013
With solid backup in the midrange, returning to the fiercest battle in the mobile market is Sony’s top priority. The Xperia Z, which leads the charge, got us properly impressed in a recent hands-on and if it walks unscathed from a complete review, we’ll know the Japanese have hit the form of their life...

It is just strange to read ur comment. I ever had Xperia S and even with that phone, I have no problem with the screen as well as the angle...

And in most videos objects applique arts very skewed. But it's ok, since it's a mid range phone, however the audio is unacceptable and far worse than $30 China phones.

AnonD-116086, 22 Feb 2013hey guys does it have Swype or something equivalent? Yes, all Xperia phones have what Sony call "Gesture Input". It works quite well, it doesnt get hooked on certain words like Samsungs version does, the over-active learning function in Samsungs can make the phone bring up the same wrong word over and over again even if you never used it. Every time the Samsung suggest a wrong word it thinks you approved it and then it will think you are in love with that word and that you always use it.

Xod, 22 Feb 2013Well, to be honest with with you I could see this smartphon... moreWell, i know what u mean, i had a HTC with SLCD and changed to Xperia Pro. I was not happy with the viewing angles at first. This is normal when you havent used a product, just like reviewers, they use a phone for a few days and test in a generic environment, they dont use the phones like we do, they dont live with them. Like sideslider qwerty phones, i had 3 of them and typed millions of characters on such phones, then when i read reviews of slidesliders, esp here on GSMA, i immediately see that the reviewers dont understand the basics of a sideslider.

The same happens with displays, a reviewer just test it and say its good or bad. In real life the Xperia Pro was a superior display to the HTC i had before that, the viewing angles was no problem at all, ever.

Xperia Pro had a TFT at size 3.7 inch and 854x480 resolution and Mobil Bravia Engine. My phone now, a NOte 2, has 5.5 inch AMOLED and 1280x720 resolution. It would not be fair to compare those two displays, because of the size and resolution, thats obvious to people like you, but to me, who actually have used the two for long periods (10 and 5 months) it is different, the Xperia Pro has better detail when watching movie, particularly in dark scenes the difference is big.

Sony fans has nothing to fear, you will love the display of the Z. Also the Xperia T has proved itelf to have superior level of detail that you can see in many youtube videos with the T side by side with other phones, and it was also said to be the best phone ever for reading text, why is it better than both One X and Galaxy S3 and Note 2? Because Sony use great displays.

If.you have friends watching with.you watch it in the flat. Hotels provide with a flat screen tv with hdmi. Your smartphone is for your personal use not for everyone. Screen sucks? Heck, even the sxs wipes the s3's pentile.amoled specially in low brightness.

Watch movies with like 6 friends circling the phone? Want strangers, on the subway, to read whats on your phone?
