Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 review: Medium extra large

07 June 2013
Screen size. Just like last year was the year of the multi-core processor, 2013 is surely the year of the big screen. There was a time when 5 inches of diagonal were considered overkill, but with every major brand now flaunting a full-HD five-incher...

Amazing how little interest there is for this one, not many comments, no enthusiasms, possible this one will be a failure. As for me, I wanted one, but I think I too have to pass and go for something smaller that offers higher resolution and a lot more performance. Xperia ZR maybe. I doubt the price difference will be huge.

"You have to take into account that bigger screens are usually held further from the eyes" - seriously, GSMArena...? So, people keep buying bigger and bigger phones just so they can hold them further away while getting the same apparent view size, definitely not to keep them at the SAME distance and get a BIGGER view, yes? Is that what you are saying...?

AK, 09 Jun 2013Not jealous lol. This ph is not bad overall but it's displa... moreThat's not true, the flagships, the more expensive models had mostly amoled. Mega 5.8 is cheap, an amoled of this size would have been a disaster for the price.

Now go and test the display yourself, just like the Galaxy Grand I am sure the Mega 5.8 has a good Samsung PLS display.

Just 190 ppi and no AMOLED. AMOLED is the trademark of Samsung phones and almost all Sammy funs prefer it. Is it true lol? Also price tag is high.

AnonD-43677, 08 Jun 2013we ask for phone with descent display and descent performan... moreThis does have decent performance, we have a galaxy grand in the house, same chipset, and it is a very decent performer, and the Mega 5.8 is higher clocked and had more RAM. I'm not saying the performance is good because I'm not experienced with high end phones, we have a galaxy S4 here as well. It is very likely we will get a Mega 5.8 when it's locally available.

sammy is the next big cheater, big screens alone dosen't make phones grt,its benchmark score is 8800,while the 6.3 has about 13k antutu score, xperia sp score is 18000 in antutu, both does not hv gorilla glass which the sp have,in india it is price 25 k for 5.8 and 31 k for its brother, both r very very expensive.

obviously the chipset wasnt produce to match the latest and the greatest....but its great to see dual core broadcam benchmarks are better than galaxy s3 which in itself is a great performer.

Seriously!! Just wana say “ Samsung you are a thief in design “ I’m a design Engineer and believe me a GOOD one and I can see how you guys so confused in design because you don’t have anything from yourself ; all is copy from others oh my God. My recommendation to consumers is get a decent phone something that you can hold in your hand and don’t be a fool by looking at photos which shows a giant hand holds a 5.8” phone like this one “ unFKNbelievable ! have a reasonable battery life . My work phone is a Samsung phone something like that and I know what I’m talking about beside all the generated heats and freezing screens and other issues that very nicely hided under fancy applications I can’t Believe people still buying this Electronic rubbish
