Samsung I9505G Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition review: Purified

14 July 2013
We’ve got something special at HQ today. The perfect Nexus phone has arrived and it looks like a Galaxy S4. This shameless poser embodies everything worth admiring from both worlds – timely updates, the unblemished stock Android...

I keep being amazed by how the "full price" is seen as more expensive than what our US-friends call "subsidized"; the price is exactly the same, up to the dollar, only the carrier does not give you a loan to buy it. Come on guys, get over that illusion that a phone on a contract is cheaper!
So, the Galaxy S4 Nexus Experience costs exactly the same amount of dollars and cents as the 'original'.

Wow, I am really disappointed by the benchmarks of the stock android.
Seems like Samsung actually vastly enhanced the graphic and Java script performance in their version of the software.

Add to this the display modes, the multi - window multitasking, and the ABILITY TO MOVE APPS TO AN SD CARD in the latest TW update, I think the stock android version is only for fools.

This article has a broken many myths about android in my eyes

Please dont call this a Nexus device - it is not a nexus device, its a google edition. Theres one mayor reason why this is important - it is stille samsung that delivers the updates for this phone, an google delivers for nexus device....

if the stock S4 and HTC one got the new android version before the Touchwiz and Sense versions respectively
this can end up in a much worse backlash by the users.
so i am sure the difference in devices receiving the update shall be minimal on purpose.
these devices are more likely suitable to the developer and hacker community.

I might get a stock Android device and install 3rd party launcher such as Nova. Personally feel that TouchWiz, Sense etc. are too resource hungry.

Nexus will always get the first updates. The 4.3 is just a ROM, with lots of bugs. Nexus owners doesnt bother with 4.3 as they will get KLP first.

The only advantage of "Pure" android is the quick updates to firmware.

Apart from that, using touchwizz with a good launcher giver you a lot more options and better experience.

Bloatware isn't an issue with the latest android phones as they have massive amounts of performance on tap.... simply hide the bloatware you don't use.

                        I owned a SGN2 and did own a Nexus 10.

Not having the different screen modes makes it a no deal for me as i always have it on natural/movie mode.

This would be the one. I used galaxy s1 and s3 and liked touch wiz, but once I tried stock android on nexus 7, I never went back and have no intention is f in the future. Shame thus things not available in the UK

Every google edition phone is a crap. Who cares pure android? Same customizations are available on normal devices, which got many better features like from touch wiz or from sense and beats audio. ANd for this many??!??!?! WTF. Crap crap crap Google Edition
