I said as much immediately last year when their "Pureview" Lumia line phones came out and didn't have the 41mp sensor or lossless zoom. They had established the Pureview as a brand with a bang, and then immediately started confusing what it stood for. Big mistake. Elop of course started to say that Pureview meant advanced photo tech on a phone and bla bla bla. OK, so that was his reasoning, and the Pureview brand was devalued.

Much more interesting than 41mpx camera (that everyone expected) is 2GB RAM. It might mean that proper multitasking is coming to WP.

Apart from the high-end resolution and Nokia Maps, Nokia Lumia 1020 offer nothing else special other smartphones. The features you just said I am already using and so much more than WP8 offers. The camera is not a main feature personally.
It's going to take probably to reach months before these units get deployed in my region. It's nice you are one of the few who patronize WP. I had an initial good impression with WP since I use Windows for my PC needs. Nokia should have already kick-in their Android contingency plan months ago.

Also, "not much else"? You can browse the internet, talk, play games and watch videos on any phone. Even a non-smartphone. Camera and small features like the clock, wrist strap eyelet, data control, Nokia Maps etc, etc, are enough to make it stand out way above most others. If you don't see them or care because you're taught by the consumer mentality merchants to look for something else in a phone it doesn't mean that no one else does.

I like WP8, but if I can't have a proper file browser and the ability to attach multiple files (not just photos) to an email, then it's going to take a lot more than a REALLY good camera and offline navigation to get me to purchase one of their phones. Going to have to stick with Android for a while longer.

The Pureview 808 was slashed to 40% of at the Philippine market. It's been on since March to now at Nokia stores. This 1020 will have the same fate. I'm one who wouldn't spend so much on the high camera feature with not much else.

GSMARENA, this phobe compared with the nokia 808 why in full rez you get lots of noise/ grain in the picture...some people complained about that...did you guys find the same thing in your tests? but pls be onest.

this is exactly what ive been saying for a while. I do acknowledge how the technology that went into this phone justifies its price, yet i find that due to this same reason it may fail at its mission. It will attract a lot of people, but not as much as if it was $100 cheaper, let alone cheaper than other Flagships.
