The E70-2 is out! It's at the Nokia store in Chicago. They only sell in person, not over the phone. But there is one on eBay today. 850Mhz. No word on carriers yet (as I'm hoping to get a discount with a plan). I've been waiting for this phone ever since my 6820 got pickpocketed in April!

The E70 does have a version for North America (850 mHZ)band that is sold only at the Nokia stores in Chicago and New York respectively. Unfortunately, they do not take phone orders. You have to physically be there to purchase it. I heard it will be available to purchase online in a couple of months.
I'm hoping Cingular picks this phone up soon.....
Thanks,

can the keyboard be used for gaming? For example playing Doom, can we use the normal 'W-A-S-D' pad? and for example shift or space bar to shoot?

I have this phone and i totally agree with this review...
Nice phone! The best display that i've ever seen... Battery works, for days, even with the WLAN or bluetooth turned on...
Makes me feel complete... I think that this phone can be even better than palms of all brands, includin blackberry(OMG, i've had an 8700, and i liked it a lot...)

This phone looks like an old phone but the features are unbelievable. Does the phone hang? Hows the display, sound and picture quality?
Which COLOR LOOKS BETTER BLACK OR SILVER?

there is an error in the, otherwise great, review..
"Nokia E70 connector type is the newer, tiny one."
actually, the E70 uses the old "big" charger connector ;)

This has got to be the best from the E-Series...From multimedia(incl. music player and camera) to office practicality(strong business tools, universal user-friendly QWERTY keyboard, claimed long battery life), this has got to be the creme de la creme.
Treo and recently, SE's P-series has dominated the QWERTY keyboard-phones segment. Nokia's offerings(6800,6821,6822) were a far-cry in providing a strong competition. Nokia latest release, E61, tho manage to finally crack it, but it didn't look like a phone for the MASSES. E70's not-so-funky-design will definitely score big.
Now, Symbian lovers will be spoilt for choice when choosing QWERTY smartphones.
However, the main let down would be the non-touchscreen UI, but tts ok if it can be priced competitively to rival SE's P990i =)

Although the reviews depict exactly what the cell phones encompass but still we need to consider the following aspects for every product:
1- Always take in to consideration the original segment to which the phone basically belongs. For example in case of Nokia E70, we should keep in mind its predecessors 6822, 6820 etc. Normally, the people already having the same segment seem interested in knowing about the improvements and the reason to upgrade their existing devices;
2- Each cell phone normally is enriched with some special additional functionality like Walkman or Camera etc. Hence, our reviews should primarily focus on these special aspects of the particular device currently meant as our subject matter;
3- Similarly, each device is meant for a special class or to say it has some targetted customers. First thing which, we should exclusively express should be pin-pointing its targetted customers or audiences. Secondly, what should be expected from that class of people for which the device was meant for. Thirdly, we should analyze to how much extent the device fulfills requirements of its targetted customers.
4- While eleborating the phone features, we should never forget that it was primarily manufactured for making calls. Normally, our comments and reviews lack such eleborations. We should never forget to review the very crucial aspects of telephone features e.g. Signals realization, interlocotors voice loudness, received calls' voice quality, ease of retrieving different types of calls, ease of receiving and making calls, sms etc.
5- Last but not the least point is, we should propound a thorough critical analysis instead of merely eleborating the features encompassed by each of the devices.
Hopefully, gsmarena Team shall do realize the aforesaid asepcts while reviewing any product in future. Thanks a lot for offering the readers an opportunity to cricise and comment on what you all already write with proper care and caution with due dligigence. I wish best of luck to all of you.

Why is it that Nokia released all of the press photos of this phone in Black, but when it was finally released it is available only in silver?
Are there actually black versions out there or is it all silver?
When is the Nokia E70-2 coming out (version with GSM 850)? Does anyone have any info about a possible release date soon (phonescoop.com said Q2) or will we have to wait months and months for it to be picked up by a carrier like the upcoming Nokia E62 for Cingular.

I was hoping that a review of a business phone would do more comparisons to the 9500 and E61 rather than compare the camera to the other Nokia models.
There are shortcomings in the 9500 phone which in my opinion must have been purposeful and I want to make sure they do not exist in the new business phones before I take the plung.
The most important of which was the email support. There was no automatic way to check email. no blackberry support came with the 9500 even though it was advertised (I had to get this working off some german site). and most importantly, no email alerting. This last point is a very important missed feature in the 9500.
you can setup an imap account and keep a GPRS connection open to get new mail, but the phone will never alert you of the new email unless you open the phone and go to the messaging menu (I keep asking myself how could anyone justify this as Ok for a business phone).
Also, a little more coverage of the voice features would be good. Does it support voice tags or the newer generic voice commands (text-to-speech)?
Don't get me wrong, overall this was a good review and I got a lot out of it.
Thanks.
