I think Sony is the New Wave, fresh breez in this Samsung and Iphone battle. Sony is quality it is like you by an Audi (Samsung is like Volkswagen a lot of stupid models with the same Specs) and you know it is good but not that shine and blink like Bentley which you dont know why people is buying (like Iphone).

I like this phone. I have been a fan of Sony ever since, my first ever cellphone was a SONY-Ericsson T300 and my last one was a P990i. After that i tried other phones and when iPhone 4 was launched i tried it and enjoyed the iOS experience. Now I am using an iPhone 5. I tried going back to Sony when Xperia S was launched, I sold my iPhone 4s to buy an Xperia S, I was not quite impress with it because of the camera (it was slow and the colors where inaccurate and the video auto focus was terrible. But I read recently that all those problems have been removed with the latest firmware update) and it feels outdated because of an older SOC. But now Sony is on a roll, they are now using the newest SOC's they were even the first to use a Snapdragon 800 unlike before they are always a year late compared to Samsung. They are also fast when it comes to Software updates this year. Now i am really considering to be back to SONY for good, iPhone is nice but I would like a bigger screen. Also SONY is the only manufacturer aside from Apple who can produce Premium looking gadgets unlike the Plastic Samsung and LG. Hope SONY would reclaim the TOP spot of the Mobile World!!!

The Sony Cyber-shot QX100 is an interesting device with a great sensor but like all things Sony they are more concerned about limiting its use. Lack of a 1080p 16:9 movie is one such thing. It seems they only want to give a still camera option to users but in case if they want video they can get a 4:3 video. For people who want to record 16:9 video, buy the more expensive RX100M II.

Anonymous, 05 Sep 2013Im no troll darling. Just stating the fact about its design... morewhy would a mm thicker bezel be a bad thing? some people dont like to always touch and hold the screen in different ways, so they hold the bezel, it's a phone not a tv or monitor.

All im saying is guts alone dont make up a phone, all phones nowadays using snapdragon,all have 2 gig ram and all have something to brag about their camera. It all boils down to design and if Sony is giving us thick bezel, THICKER than the Xperai Z, i think their design team have to wake up.

As all the hardware of 'Z1' are more than capable for it...with simple software update 'sony' can bring 4k(UHD 2160p) video capture ability...just 'sony' have to think about it....!

I can't believe sony still puts cheap ass $1 anti shatter screen protectors on their phones, have they not heard of gorilla glass 2 and 3? no one wants that crap they put on the z and other phones that scratch with ease

If they haven't changed the loudspeaker then it's all just a big waste... I could barely hear my Xperia Z from day one and after 4 months my speaker had blown to a rattling tinnie mess! - told my carrier to shove it politely and was given an HTC One... now I can actually hear my alarms and calls... loved the Sony but the speaker ruined it...

I was one of those who hated the original Xperia Z screen and I'm glad that complaint won't come up again.

For a pre-release firmware, the sample camera shot is brilliant. :D
I hope the camera will be fast as well as good. BTW, the review didn't mention how fast it is. Shot-to-shot time and time to focus. :)

Just looking at the camera sample on the article, my goodness!
Really detailed shot, you can see the boat windows very well, the trees on the other side of the river, you can almost see the individual leaves.
Im almost sold on the Z1 just on the camera alone.
Hurry Up with the review!
