Apple iOS 7 review: Eye of the beholder

17 September 2013
Depending on where you come from, the iOS 7 may be the bigger, and better, piece of news than the new iPhone duo. Certainly true if you have the iPhone 5 and you intend on holding on to it, unfazed by what looks like a dilemma between a marginal upgrade...

Interesting points made. My issue is with the review and reviewer. It looks lazy now that you have said it is a copy and paste exercise.
By the way. It states in the review that battery should not last as long due to apps automatically updating and checking for wifi/internet connections.

why cant these reviewers be professional and consistent

Just got my phone updated to ios 7 and must say its refreshing new OS, but since a use of over a day I feel that am over it. The colourful display appears shiny and glossy in the beginning with just like an animation kind of feel to it, but gradually the grace is gone because the simplicity, elegance and class of ios 6 cannot be matched.

It seems as if Mr. Cook has overdone in some places, and in the process he has ruined it all.

As far as the productivity is concerned it has scaled up and the utilities are helpful but the iPhone will surely be missing the feel of iconic Steve jobs and the class he created.

Overall, There's not much in ios 7 rather than annoying colours imported from Cadbury gems and smarties. But, some utilities are the need of the hour and thus ios 7 is a necessary evil. Although, I have decided to wait and not to update my iPad as of now.

Steve jobs will be missed forever and hope sense prevails over current management.

AnonD-188322, 19 Sep 2013Then what you are saying is that the review is inaccurate. ... moreim not saying its inaccurate, but im saying that i havent encountered any problems since last week. I restored and installed it last night just to have the final release instead of the GM, which shouldnt matter since its the same build, but you know, just in case.

I did notice tho that the review is mostly a copy/paste from the iOS7 BETA review written on June, 2013. I posted about this numerous times when the June review was bumped up top last week and my comments kept being deleted. Maybe those "lag" issues where from the Beta review, and not GM as specified, but who knows.

The only lag ive noticed is inside the new twitter app which was updated yesterday. It lags when you go from portrait to landscape to tweet, but thats an App issue, not iOS issue.

Battery seems to last longer, and apps update in the background at around the same time you usually open the app in the day. Lets say that you open facebook every day at 9pm. iOS recognizes this routine and by 9pm it will be refreshed with the lastest already without you having to open the app to wait for it to refresh. This is something done in the background that is very useful.

Its a shame they are still going for icons on a desktop feel similar to Windows '95. Golden opportunity wasted. Shame.

There was a report made the other day that theres far less android users that pay for apps than there is for iOS. Android users mostly download free apps. Free apps earn revenue from ads, which users hate, and end up deleting or not using apps due to ads. And besides, iOS apps runs way smoother than on android, which is why they usually develop for iOS first, or like you said, some exclusively.

Theres nothing on android that cannot be done on iOS (except customization, of course)

iOS 7 is beautiful to say the least. I was a bit apprehensive before upgrading to iOS 7, but now, I have it running on my iPhone 5, iPad 3 and iPad mini. It's colourful, simple, elegant and progressive. I wnt comment on how it fares to the competition, since I have never used an android, but I am sure all Apple loyalists will absolutely love iOS 7. It retains the simplicity of all previous iOS versions and builds up on new features. The control center, the improved notifications and the photo gallery left me mesmerized. I wish all developers come up with apps to realise the true potential of the wonderful iOS 7.

Anonymous, 19 Sep 2013Lets be honest here. The people who hate on Apple products ... moreI had already 4 Macs, and the were always expensive, more than double of similar PC hardware. iPhone never got me, not the old version nor this iPhone 5S, there's too much that I can't do with it, I don't have the freedom of installing a torrent app, I can't share a bluetooth file or photo with anyone, I am stuck with iTunes and so on and on.. so grow up!
