19 September 2013
Sony’s got a plan and sticking to it – while other makers pile software feature upon feature, the Japanese focus on their historical strengths, such as beautiful, durable design, photographic excellence and display tech. That in short is...

I have received the Z1 today, but unfortunately the low light photo quality is the same as it was of the Xperia Z. Horrible grainy pictures.
I have also a Nokia Lumia 925, which performs much better in low light situations. Sorry, but I trust only my eyes, not promises. I was eager waiting for the Z1, but it's a disappointment. Maybe the already released (but not yet received) new firmware 14.1.G.1.534 will improve somewhat, but I don't think so.

[deleted post]Not sure where you are based but the LG G2 has certainly not been released in Europe! I am also guessing you have not actually touched the Z1 but relying on your innate bias or inaccurate/false review. I own this beast and been using it all day, email, internet, texts, phone calls and music for 3 hours and still have 76% battery which is the best on any phone I have used personally and bear in mind that the battery is not even optimised yet! Stop bashing products you don't like or can't afford and go post on pages where someone actually gives a damn about your opinion....in this case, LG's blog would seem to be a good start!

SONY's Xperia Z1 put the standard that many people including obvious biased reviewers give their critic out of the right issue, use it as the OBJECT of comparison lol.

So good to wait for the reviews before rushing out to change things. That Z1 3000 milliamp battery had me drooling but I guess the GS4 gets a reprieve.

About the display, personally I don't want the display to have good viewing angles. If it is a movie that I want to see with my friends I would watch it in my laptop or TV. Smartphones are made to be used for one person. I don't think a significant number of people would use their smartphone screen to watch a movie with friends! I would prefer to have narrower viewing angles because I don't want the dude sitting beside me in the bus to see pictures that my girlfriend is sending me! :P or see the password or screen unlock pattern that I'm entering into my phone..

So personally I don't think judging a phone's screen by how wide the viewing angles are is the right thing to do. But well GSMarena reviewers never seem to agree with the people of this opinion! :-/

You said the box so small, and Sony don't include the headset.. I was just wondering if your review unit is different from others. (Or model)Anyway phone arena has a "headset with clip" with their review unit...:)

Reviewing a pre-production unit without the finalized firmware is unfair on GSM Arena's part. There's got to be some potential in the camera when a top company goes on to say that its flagship phone gives the best image quality of all leading smartphones.

Sony has moved forward in display tech with Triluminos and X-Reality, but still not up to the mark of the likes of IPS-LCD and S-LCD found on LG G2, HTC One, iPhone 5. Moving on to the battery, Sony has to do lot of work for the better optimization of its phones' batteries.
