AnonD-189083, 27 Sep 2013You have no clue about what you are saying. Look at GSMAren... moreI did. There are only full size photos, and the scaling is done by GSMArena, not the same as the scaling done by the phones. I'm not saying the 5MPix 1020 photos are not good, I'm saying they would have better be 8 MPix, and the 38 MPix is really useless. Also I noted in the Z1 review that GSMA had a pre-production phone with some problems with the lens. Even so, the images are comparable(more natural colours for Z1, more details and better focus for 1020, although the focus problem can be because of the faulty lens, and btw, the 1020 images are a bit overexposed). On the colour poster, the Z1 shows more details for the blue cheese than the 1020. All in all, the photo quality is comparable for both phones, but as a package I prefer the Z1.

Hi all. . I got my Lumia 1020. Yesterday. And all i can say is . Its a dream. I love it. Its so smooth. Its a joy and pleasure to use. If you are thinking about it, just do it. The camera is beautiful. The photos are way better than Samsung and apple products. The detail is truly amazing. Im going to the dog racing tonight. Im going to be way ahead of everyone else. I hope no one else has it.lol.
the extra ram reply makes a difference in speed and and smoothness and running the phone. . The battery is what you really expect. But the camera hump is no where near as big as i thought it would be. Its beautiful.

X, 26 Sep 2013The 5 and 38 MPix size pictures are bad choices. 5 MPix is ... moreYou have no clue about what you are saying. Look at GSMArena's comparison tool. The 5mp images have way more detail that the Z1's 8mp. So even that argument of yours' is absolutely false. Not to mention lower noise etc etc.
5+38 is the best compromise. 5mp images from the 1020 are the best ever from a mobile. And the full 38mp's are for those who like to play around with their images in Photoshop etc.

X, 26 Sep 2013The 5 and 38 MPix size pictures are bad choices. 5 MPix is ... moreDon't be ignorant. 5mpx images look great on any Full HD Screen. Full HD TV is around 2mpx. No matter if the 8mp images from Z1 are 4times the resolution of the TV itself the 5mp images from L1020 will fit the screen the same, there will be no stretching on any of both images because they overfit the display anyway, so please don't write non sense. Anyway why would you need more pixels if the pictures on the Z1 look worse than L1020?? I would rather have the quality and detail than the slightly bigger size. Both are perfectly printable in A4 size paper which is enough for most normal people. If you are going to print big sketches you always have 38mpx at your disposal

As a Galaxy user for 2 years, I can easily say that Lumia's cameras are the best. There's nothing wrong to say that certain phones do better at certain things than others. iPhone cams are usually top notch as well when compared to its competitors. People need to stop being fanboys. I love my S2/3/4, Note1/2, but it doesn't mean I can't express a liking for other deserved phones.

The 5 and 38 MPix size pictures are bad choices. 5 MPix is worse than 8 MPix, pretty decent for Facebook, for example, and the 34-38 MPix photos are unnecessary big to upload on the cloud and download them from there.
The best compromise is for the Sony Xperia Z1, 20 MPix and 8 MPix respectively.
BTW, 8 MPix corresponds approximately to a 4K resolution. Great to view on 1080p screens(4 photo pixels correspond to 1 screen pixel, scaling 4/1).
For 5 MPix, the scaling is at around 2,4, for full HD screen, not so good.

AnonD-163877, 25 Sep 2013The proof is in the test chart comparisons done on this sit... moreThere have been other tests too. And on many occasions the 1020 seems to be sharper at the center. Yes, in this test, it seems to be reversed. But in either case, the difference is marginal.
Yes, there seems to be some units (like this one) with very good corner sharpness, while in some, there seems to be an issue.
The other important aspect to consider is that this is the release firmware for the 1020. I'm sure it will improve with the subsequent updates.

AnonD-159698, 21 Sep 2013Really salute NOKIA for this phone. I am ex NOKIA user in i... morei'm very agree with you, my friend.. it's too negative while other reviewer are different..
btw, you should know that the z1 that GSMarena tested are the pre-production version, they said it in their review.. I just hope that GSMarena will make a review again with a final retail product..

AnonD-189083, 22 Sep 2013You are simply forgetting that Sony had to make compromises... moreyup, Sony, needs to improve their image processing algorithm. Not sure why they cannot implement the full image processing from their dedicated digicams.

Ideally the 1020 should be sharper than the 808, since it does apply more sharpening to it's images, but unless the focus was wrong when they did the test images in GSM Arena, the 808 seems to be sharper, and has less noise. This is looking at the full resolution comparisons, obviously.
Btw, based on the test charts for 5MP pureview. The 1020's corners seems to improve quite nicely. I guess this handset has met it's design criteria, designed for pureview :)

AnonD-189088, 23 Sep 2013ok i have checked the photo comparisons between PureView 80... moreI believe the 808 has a slight edge over the 1020, especially in the sharpness, and detail department. The 1020 really does seem to excel when compared to the z1

AnonD-22824, 24 Sep 2013I am planning to buy sony 21 mp nfc and wifi enabled came... moreYes, you must have the biggest pockets in the world. Carrying that lens along with the already gigantic Note 2. Maybe you can fit a DSLR in there too. And maybe the Surface Pro 2 as well for good measure.
Funny how that low powered battery gives you more battery life than most phones. Or how that dual core processor still makes WP fly without a single hiccup. In any case, there is the 1520 coming up soon with a 1080p screen, snapdragon 800 and a 20mp PV camera for all spec-whores.
Oh, and a proper Xenon flash setup demolishes all LED flash setups, specially when it comes to freezing motion.

AnonD-22824, 24 Sep 2013I am planning to buy sony 21 mp nfc and wifi enabled came... moreQX100 is as bulky and no better in image quality compared to some similarly priced digital cameras,so you'll be basically paying for a camera without a screen....it's better to just by a camera.....the point of smartphone cameras is that they are portable, always in your pocket, and no setting up...no one would carry qx100 with them always unless they are insane so your comment is basically just because of ignorance or hatred.....
