i own the phone for three weeks now and i really like it, because of the design, the technical features and especially the screen.
but there are a few things i am disappointed about and i mention them here with hopes that either anybody has already solved the problems or sagem will notice them...
JAVA: i did not manage to install a java-application. tried it with bluetooth, usb-cable and via wap-download. seems to be impossible, but an email-client is very important to me....anybody with more luck??
MP3-Player: Very bad user-interface. plays only the playlist you´ve created with a thousand clicks;). if you click on e.g. the first track in a folder on your sd-card it repeats this track instead of jumping to the next file at the end. any change would be a big improvement. no multitasking...
CONNECTION: although this phone looks like a design-copy of a mixture of apple powerbooks and the ipod it does not work well with mac-computers. you can send and recieve images, mp3s and sometimes (?!) vcf-cards via bluetooth, but syncing, ftp-connection etc. seems to be impossible (also with usb-cabel. even with my pc i´m not getting a comfortable connection and i had to use wellphone and imagetransfer with usb-cable....
these are my main concerns. if anybody has anymore problems let´s send a fax to sagem (even the email-form on their website doesn´t work for me ;)))

ok short review,
construction:
the handset is definitely not too big as a lot of people say. it fits my hand perfectly and the keypad, to me is really convenient. the joystick is where the problem is. it's too small and too difficult to use. takes a lot of time to get used to it.
Visual and Sound:
the screen is perfect, comparable to Sharp's and the sound, too is great.
the sound remains in good quality at the highest volume level.
As i said before, i've encountered some problem with midi files since it's not as sonorous as it should. but that's not the problem since the mp3 files are fantastic.
Video & Audio player:
i don't know why but sometimes, when i'm watching the video, the phone switched off and on itself.
the good point for the video player is that you can watch it in full screen which i think is really nice.
For the audio player, it doesn't work well. u can't multi-task and u can't leave the player for too long, coz it will stop and go back to the main menu.
Disappointing...
Camera:
personally, i think the camera is good enough. pictures get blurry easily if your hand is not stead as a rock. but usually you'll get decent pictures from the phone.
flash is really useful~
macro mode for my x-9 would be nice =)
Picture editor:
in the editor you'll find,
zoom, adjustment, emboss, negative, grey scale, add mark (useless), contrast, sharpen, blur, sepia, shape, brightness, solarize and saturation.
i don't play a lot with it so can't comment on anything
video recorder:
you cannot zoom when you are recording which is a pity but the good point is that you can record it until the memory runs out!
other cons:
-the phone lags a lot. it's really really slow but it's forgivable since the interface is so pretty~
-the phone gets switched on too easily. all you have to do is press (no need to hold) the power button.
-your friends will be jealous of you~
i'll give it 8.3/10

although you can't save image and video files to the memory card, is it still easy to transfer those files to the pc?? Also, so it's not good enough while playing midi files but good for playing mp3 files?? moreover, the battery life is short??

I really want to get this phone cause obviously attracted by it's nice outlook. But is it possible to upload pictures from phone to PC or from PC to phone? Is the process easy? Cause I wish to customize my own wallpaper. Moreover, does the screen nice enough to compare with Sharp's brand cell phones or no contest? Thanks!

it doesn't have a radio feature.
and for the photo blurring thing,
you just need to be really still.

Bought my X8 in Hong Kong on 12/17/04.
Good phone. A little bigger than most, but smaller than the blackberry's.
Has some quirks you must get used to. Not as user friendly as Sony Ericsson or Nokia interface. Does not allow much customization of features.
On board 40MB. Mini-SD slot, however, the phone only uses the 40MB. It does not allow you to save from camera straight to Mini-SD, or at least I have not figured out how.
Bluetooth is dependent on SAGEM and WELLPHONE software. Cannot create true serial or ftp connection with computer.
Sound and visual quality is outstanding. Battery removal is difficult.
Will not accept current JAVA or MOPHUN games. Phone will not save the games.
Write to me to ask about it!

for the 512 mb thing,
i think it can.
but all the photos and videos you recorded will be stored in the mobile itself, not the minisd card.
bad news...
