Samsung appoints new president of Mobile Division

Yordan, 20 January 2020

Samsung held its annual change of directors this month and the Mobile division, responsible for all the Galaxy phones and wearables, has a new president. He is called Roh Tae-moon and is taking over from DJ Koh (Koh Dong-jin is his full name), who will remain co-CEO. Roh is the youngest ever president of the IT & Mobile Communications department at the age of 51, and up until now he was the No.2 executive under Koh.

While the structure and relationship between Koh and Roh will remain, the new president is selected to face Huawei and its rapid expansion in the smartphone world. Roh is behind the revival of the Galaxy A lineup that took the midrange market by storm and put an end to Samsung's falling sales there.

Roh Tae-moon has been an employee of the Korean giant for nearly two decades and, according to a press release, has the qualities to make some bold moves from the smartphone division in the upcoming months. We expect to see his first public appearance at February 11, when the Samsung Galaxy S20 lineup will be announced.
