Samsung at 3GSM 2006

Usually at 3GSM World Congress Samsung announces many new mobile phones. No big surprise today - Samsung announced again in bulk.

The SGH-Z560 supports 1.8Mbps HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) and is aimed for the European market. The new clamshell device is 97.3 x 51.3 x 16 mm big and weighs 98 g. It has a 1" external 128 x 128 pixels display with 65K colors and a 2.3" 262K colors internal display with 240 x 320 pixels resolution. Z560 also has a 2 megapixel camera, 30 MB internal memory and a microSD slot. The new phone supports Bluetooth and has a USB port. The Z560 Samsung has external Touch Memory Keys for music playback control. It's interesting that the model was advertised on billboards and city cabs in Barcelona before the official announcement.

Samsung SGH-P900 is a major attraction with its T-DMB (Terrestrial Digital Media Broadcasting) support for mobile TV. The new phone is 94.5 x 47.5 x 26.6 mm big and weighs 124 g. The EDGE device has a 2.2" internal 240 x 320 pixels LCD display with 262K colors. It also has a 2 megapixel camera and 128 MB internal memory for storing data. Additional memory can be reached with the microSD slot. Bluetooth and USB are also included. SGH-P910 is similar to P900 but supports DVB-H (Digital Video Broadcasting - Handhelds) technology instead of T-DMB. It also has weaker camera (1.3 megapixel), less internal memory (30 MB) and is bigger (97 x 50 x 27.4 mm, weighs 125 g).

The ultra slim SGH-i320 Smartphone has a QWERTY keypad (with 2 letters assigned to a digit) and runs on Windows Mobile 5. It is 111 x 59 x 11.5 mm big and weighs 95 g. The i320 is equipped with 2.2" display with 65K colors and 320 x 340 pixels resolution. The QWERTY Smartphone has 120 MB internal memory and a microSD slot for additional memory. 1.3 megapixel camera, Bluetooth and USB are also built-in.

Another model from the slim serie of Samsung is the SGH-D520. It is 101 x 46 x 15.9 mm big and weighs 98.8 g. It has a 1.9" display with 262K colors and 176 x 220 pixels resolution. Also with 1.3 megapixel camera, 80 MB internal memory and no memory card slot. Bluetooth and USB are supported.

The UMTS SGH-Z150 phone is one of the thinnest phones in the world. It is 117 x 46 x 9.8 mm big and weighs 89 g. It has a 1.9" 176 x 220 pixels display with 262K colors. Also has VGA camera, 50 MB internal memory (no memory card slot), Bluetooth and USB support.

Another new phone is the UMTS SGH-Z710. It is the first Samsung phone with 3.2 megapixel camera. Z710 is 95.7 x 47.5 x 20.4 mm big and weighs 107 g. The external display of the 3G clamshell is 1.1" 96 x 96 pixels LCD with 65K colors. The internal one is 2.15" QVGA 262K colors LCD. Z710 has FM radio tuner, 128 MB internal memory and microSD slot. It also supports Bluetooth and USB.

The newest slider in the Samsung portfolio is the SGH-Z350 UMTS phone. The 3G device is 97 x 48 x 18.4 mm big and weighs 107 g. It is equipped with a 2.0" 240 x 320 pixels LCD with 262K colors. It also has a 1.3 megapixel camera, 30 MB internal memory for data storage and microSD slot for additional space. Bluetooth and USB technologies are supported.

SGH-Z330 is a 3G clamshell phone with EDGE support. It is 91 x 46 x 21 mm big and weighs 85 g. The new device has a 1.1" 96 x 96 pixels external LCD with 65K colors and a 1.9" 176 x 220 pixels internal LCD with 262K colors. It has a 1.3 megapixel camera and 140 MB internal memory (no memory card slot). It also supports Bluetooth and USB. SGH-Z310 is similar to Z330 but has weaker camera (1 megapixel), slightly bigger internal display (2.0" 176 x 220 pixels with 262K colors) and less memory (50 MB) but with a microSD slot. It is 89.4 x 47.6 x 23.5 mm big and weighs 102 g. SGH-Z520 is also similar. It is 90 x 45 x 22.8 mm big and weighs 105 g. Z520 has a 2.0" 240 x 320 pixels LCD with 262K colors. It also has 40 MB internal memory and a microSD slot.

Another new clamshell phone is the SGH-Z600 UMTS phone. The 3G device is 89 x 48 x 23.5 mm big and weighs 115 g. It has a 1.0" 80 x 64 pixels OLED display with 65K colors and a 2.1" 176 x 208 pixels display with 262K colors. Z600 goes with a 2 megapixel camera, 70 MB internal memory for data storage and microSD slot. It also has Bluetooth, USB and IrDA.

Samsung also announced the M8000 model, which is one of the first WiBro phones. WiBro is the Korean brand name of Mobile WiMAX service, a wireless high-speed broadband service for voice, data and video transfer at moving speeds up to 120 km/h. The M8000 will be with a QWERTY keypad.

Most of the new Samsung phones are meant for the European market and are expected to be available in Q2 2006

Samsung have really moved up the mobile chart list by learning things an check the best way to move on,they started producing mobiles without Bluetooth an lost out to Nokia an Motorola but they then added the function an caught them up ,there flip ph...
