Samsung confirms Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic aren't being discontinued

Himanshu, 01 September, 2016

As you might already know, Samsung has made official the Gear S3 smartwatch. While that's certainly good news for Samsung fans, what does this mean for the previous generation Gear S2? Will it be discontinued?

Well, Samsung has confirmed it won't stop selling the Gear S2. Both standard as well as the Classic variant will be available for purchase alongside the newly-unveiled Gear S3 classic and frontier.

In fact, the South Korean company will be pushing out an update to both Gear S2 variants that will bring along all the new software features that the new Gear S3 smartwatch packs in.

The Gear S2 models - understandably - are expected to receive price cuts, making then an even more attractive proposition.

I like the look and the functionality, but this is the last Samsung smartwatch I will buy, the vibration is so wick that it makes the watch useless.

My S2 updated fine, no problem encountered at all and, like the previous poster, I don't know anyone who had a problem.
