didnt like it...bought it and sent it back. its very slippery, easy to drop. does not fit in my hand well. the buttons are tiny have to use fingernail. the slide mechanism is hard to open and seemed flimsy... it is a cool looking phone and loaded, i did like the mp3 and two speakers.

first of all i'd say i got this phone for 2 months now and i think samsung aint living up to its standards. first of all, let ms say that samsung has finally learned to put in ring and vibrate and the same time, not like to usual old samsung phones tat vibrates then only rings...YES it rings and vibrates at the same time lol anyways the battery aint tat good as it last for me a day long after normal usage which is like approx an hour more of talking and a few texting here and there. screen is better than the rest and considered ok for the price of it. sound wise is stereo which i must say not to good nor too bad, average i'd say but it could have been better. one major draw back is that to slid up the damn phone is damn hard as the little rubber there is so small and too smooth to hold on to it and slide it up....tats a big negative for the phone, the weight aint tat light as well and its pretty bulky...wide and surface too smooth, aint easy to answer call...speaker phone are ok to listen but the other side has a hard time hearing from ya...buttons are small and too compact together which makes its kinda hard to avoid typo. memory card slot aint a bonus as i have trouble formatting them with the phone. dont know if any of ya guys having same problem or not, i brought it to the dealer and they say some times its like tat they will format the card for ya and tats it...so be wise dont compromise, keep buggin them till ya card is changed!!!
last but not least, i'm a tech geek and love to evaluate phone performance, if there's any questions please shoot to me and i'd answer ya, i have used lots of brands and from pocket pc, to hand held to smart phone to 3G to wireless to whatver they're offering now...lol...just ask no harm done...

Samsung D820 is good both in terms of size and functions. However, the phone does not store data ie. video, photos, etc. direct to the extra memory card. I can only transfer the video clip of about just 10 minutes to the card and that is not the purpose for my purchase of the extra memory card. I would like to have a contineued video recording for about 2hrs depending on the size of my memory card. How do I do it?

You can use a Bluetooth Dongle. It's very easy. I have my 2nd phone with bluetooth now. And I just LOVE to use Bluetooth. So easy. I Have Sony Ericsson, but anyway:)

Is there any way to change the default for text entry? The T9 is completely counter-intuitive and asinine. I want my phone to default to the ABC entry mode whenever I go to send texts. It was easy to change on my Motorola, but I cant find it on my Samsung. Im getting rid of this phone if I cant change the default, because it is that aggravating (I literally send thousands of texts per month). Having to remember to change the entry mode each time is annoying. Thank you.

I view most of the comment about this phone and i'm comparing it with that of D520. Can anyone tell me more comparision between these 2 phone because it seem that the price over in Singapore for D520 is more expensive than D820 but the function of D820 seem to be better. Thanks.

I bought this phone last april 28 and its great. I charged it initially for 16hrs (as what dante told me) and when I used the phone, the battery lasts for 1.5-2 days though mediocre, the batt life is still good for me coz only have to do the regular charging for an hour and a half. I bought 256mb memory after a week of purchasing the phone. this is much better than my last E730 though it has a good batt life than the d820 but I cannot install java apps with the previous phone. with the new phone, I can easily install any java apps without hassle.
+bright 256k color screen
+240x360 screen resolution
+Bluetooth
+External Memory(TF Card)
+Media Player
+tv output
+Expandable Java Apps
+Slide phone and rotating 1.3 cam(it doesnt matter but it is plus since it has)
+External Memory (TF Card)
-Average Batt Life
-No infared
-no downloadable skins/themes

to all insecure and noisy NOKIA and SONY fans,
You cannot accept that NOKIA and SE phone designs are out of date like just those in 1945 walkie talkie. Function wise, yap these manufacturers have a litte extra functions but not advance compared to SAMSUNG or other major manufacturer. So therefore, I believe that NOKIA and SE are nothing but a second rate trying really really very hard copy cats manufacturers.
GO SAMSUNG, flood the market with this slim and advance phone.

there is a way around using mp3's for your ringtones but you have to do this over the computer. change the file extention of the mp3 file to a 3gp file thru window's explorer, and copy it to the micro sd card. from there just copy it to your phone and use it like you would with a ringtone.
