      Hi,

      Looking to upgrade, can't decide between:

      Nokia N73
      SE K800
      or Samsung D840

      Here is my problem, I have all my contacts in my Adress Book on my MacBook. Nokia and SE are supported through iSync but Samsung are not - but I would much rather the D840... any other way to upload my contact data to the phone???

      Thanks

          I just love everything about this phone, it will be the best ever, having said that, the thinness will take out its character...the D820 isnt that thin but it has this curve that make it the "FERI" (Ferrari). Also, what is with the keypad??? i thought they have proved it not so good with the D800? Otherwise it would be prefect! it is going to be my next phone in 2 years time (maybe)!

              Hey mate,

              hehe yeh In US we get the junks when it comes to cell phone. It will take another 5 years or so to catch up. I use GSM so that I can buy unlocked latest phones.

              Most of the Samsung models does't have Ired. I assume they did their market-research as well and there has to be a reason.

              Cheers!!

                Hey mate,

                actually live in Australia ;)

                You're speaking for all of the US population...damn! I thought the US were the last to receive new technology, so Infrared should be way cool LOL
                I'm SO joking! :)

                The latest Nokia's, SE's, BenQ's and LG's still offer IrDA, so I let them do the market-research for me and say: it's still popular.
                This goes for most of the GSM market I think, but then again the US is mainly CDMA so I don't know. But last time I checked your CDMA models weren't exactly "advanced".

                cheers,

                Harlekkin

                  @Harlekkin

                  If you are in Japan, then there is no point arguing. There are reasons for Japanese models to carry it. Here in US and most probably in many other countries we simply don't need it. USB and bluetooth are enough.

                  ---and when I said MP3s i meant music files. I'm well aware of AAC+.

                  Cheers!!

                    @ Kal

                    well, I use the 903SH which STILL has IrDA & Bluetooth, as most MODERN JAPANESE phones do.

                    Give me some credit, I use a CARD READER for transfering any file as Bluetooth is too slow. Though M2M is done via bluetooth of course. You're way behind if you still use MP3 - efficiency is called AAC+ v2. Talking about catching up with time...

                    IrDA still has it's place and it will be a disadvantage to SOME not having it.

                    Can you live with that?

                    Harlekkin

                      I am currently on a IBM Thinkpad the T42 issued in 2005. It houses both bluetooth and of course Infrared. Infrared is implemented when bluetooth is either interrupted or when faster more private transmissions between devices are needed. When I had my S710 SE the bluetooth was still thinking when IR was transmitting

                          @Harlekkin

                          Which most modern phones carries Ired...you are talking about SE/NOKIA?, they kept it so that peps who are living in the past don't compain.
                          Its good to see Samsung not using it and the rest will follow.
                          Which laptops/computers has Infrared!!. I'm using them from 90s. Havent come accross with any.
                          Yes bluetooth is not yet common in computers and laptops, but there is a thing called USB for that. That makes life much easier to trasfer files.
                          I cant just imagine that you are using infarred to trasfer all those mp3s and videos to your phone.

                                      I have seen the set (photo) it looks good. But I need some clarification bout its features. D820 is having a problem its keypad tone cant be turned off. Does this set also carries the same demerit? ? Does it has 128MB card along with the set? ? Can the camara be rotated like D820? ? And finally can anyone tell me what is the expected price in India and when is expected to come? ? ?

                                      Anyone can mail me at arindam.c@sankhya.net
