Can anyone enlighten me as to how I can get the display on the phone to show me when I’ve either missed a call or received a message, until I acknowledge the message. It would also be nice for the display to show the time when on standby? At the moment I need to activate the display to check for both the above.

To RAJESH & Dr ADEYDOYIN. My UK phone has the same buttons and functions as Rajesh's.
I don't know anything about any hardware variations.

        Rajesh,

        about the cracking issue:

          TALS;

You are very careful for a phone selection. Appreciate it.

          1. The cracking issue - as far as I know, has appeared only in some early batch distributed in UK. All the complaints came from UK-sold phones. And now we are not hearing the issue at all . And if you take a little care also, the risk element can be narrowed very much. Buy a latest production, if you.

2)U600 & jabra BT620s : my knowledge is not better than yours. The specs say that U600 is A2DP compatible, so BT 620 or any stereo headset must work. However in the Jabra site/ bt620s page, I can't see U600 in the compatibility box(click below and find it on the right side of page)
          http://www.jabra.com/Sites/Jabra/UK-UK/products/Pages/JabraBT620s.aspx

...MAY BE because they are still to update the list with U600(it is some what a new model, the U600). I have seen your post in the U600 page. I have also posted the question in some other forum and waiting for the reply.

            Hi Rajesh,

i have a very strange question for you and i hope you can assist. after a couple of month of research i will finally (and hopefully) buy a new phone this weekend when in Budapest. I narrowed down the options to D900 and U600. i read your post (and did some googling) regarding the comparison and for me both phones are pretty equal in features and performance. there is one major thing that bothers me with each handset and i want to take the final decition according to those issues:
            - D900 cracking issue.
            - U600 lack of A2DP compatibility knowledge.

i corrently use a D600 with Jabra BT620s and would like to use the BT headphones with the new phone very much. i know from Dirk that D900 is fully competibale and afraid U600 will have unexpected issues.

            about the cracking issue:
i read all that was posted here (and did some googling) about it and still not relaxed buying a D900. i can not follow most of your tips you posted, as i like to take the phone in my jeans and need to charge it with the battry act.

can you supply any info, opinion or even just hunches regarding my dilemma and the two major fears/issues?
i know this probably sounds like a strange request :-)
            10x in advanced, tals.

              Rajesh,
This is amusing. I thought all D900 work same way as mine. It will be interesting to hear other users' comments on this issue. Lets hear what Maxima has to say on those differences.
              Cheers

                Dr.Adedoyin;
I read all your descriptions with surprise. There is no 'input menu' in my phone and the RIGHT SOFT KEY is for 'back' always !! And I'm not very happy to see that the same model has so many versions with such differences.

D900 users, it will be interesting to know how these things work in your phones....

                      Raj,
To explain further, it is short presses on the right soft key that gives me the switching between T9, Abc, 123, and symbols. Long press on the right soft key brings up the Input mode menu

                        Raj,
I don't know if its really a shortcut or not but i use the right soft key to change between T9, Abc, and 123, as well as symbols modes when writing text messages. The left soft key is for options.

                          Raj,
Am talking about TEXT MESSAGE not browser or Opera mini. MENU > 5 > 1 > 1. That is MENU > Messages, > Create new messages, > Text messages. Long press on my * brings up the additional symbols boxes on the screen (the ones you move with directional keys and select with numerical keys). Key 1 gives selections of few symbols. The long press on # key changes my input from whatever mode to 123 mode and another long press on the same # key returns me back to my previous mode. This is how my own works. Am sure some others will have this also. Its not possible for only my phone to work this way.
                          ----------------
                          Maxima,
Yeah, i get P for pause with long press on * when dialling a phone number.

                                Dr.Adedoyin,
I doubt that you are talking about the browser/opera mini text editor where the shortcuts are exactly as you said. But GHOCT was talking about TEXT MESSAGES screen....

And if shortcuts for text message creator differ, it is strange. Then what is the shortcut for t9&normal mode in your phone?

DR. Adedoyin and Rajesh. I go with Raj on this one. Doctor, when dialling a phone number, do you get "P" for pause with a long press on * ??

                                    Raj,
Am very sure. When writing text messages, long press on * gives me the symbols but long press on # changes me from whatever imput method am using to 123 imput and back.
