yo iceman. thanks for yor answer with regards to my query about whether mp3 songs can be used as message alert tones. too bad it can't be done. that really sucks (well for me at least). anyway, i just wanted to share that the unit i got isn't the one with the glossy casing...instead i was able to buy one that has a rubber type case/cover. so pertinent to the common problem that this fone gets a lot of finger marks on it, mine doesn't since as I said, its the one with the rubber casing. cheers.

i had this phone for 2-3 wks already and very happy with it. to answer some of your queries :-
1. Turning on flash with camera in closed mode - hold down either volume buttons (long press) it works for me : firmware E730DXEH1
2. Soft to loud ringing when phone is open - same for me .. it's to save you from getting a shock (or going deaf) just in case phone is near your ear.
3. Battery life - excellent!! at first it was kinda crap, lasting 1 day, then 2 days then 3 days.. now it has lasted me 5 days with just minimal usage (4 days wif 1 hr of mp3 in total plus some calls + sms) Battery life gets better after around 5-6 charging cycles.
4. Message Alert Tones - can only use the preset ones.. can't add any of your own
5. Phone Lock - yes there is under security settings. i've never tried so don ask me any more lol
Overall.. it is a fantastic phone :) my only and probably insignificant complaint is that the external gloss attracts so many fingerprints.. but i can live with that ^_^

hm...im confused...there was only one person who said that he/she has the phone and was sure that the flash can b turned on when the phone is closed....and there were like 10 other people with the fone who cudnt do it (including me) to the person who claimed to have the fone and can turn the flash on: do u hav the fone? or r u confusing the model with other model? or jst diff firmware?? my firmware is E730CEEE4. (this can be checked when u go into *#8999*8378#(test mode))

Ok all e730 user that does not know how to turn on the flash in camera mode when the phone is closed please read the following and I am sure you are able to turn the flash on.
All you need to do is hold the side key either up or down. Just keep holding it and then please post back and tell me your result. I'm pretty sure the flash will lit up. hope it helps.

Yo tell me does this phone record 1hour Video Along with 20 MP3 songs.
One More thing If say i record Half An hour of video can i record more than 20 MP3 songs.

A few questions. When the phone is open, does the ringtone volume intentionally begin at a lower volume and then suddenly becomes louder. I find it to be this way with my handset. However, the ringtone is at a constant volume when the phone is closed.
Additionally, I am experiencing some difficulty in using the camera flash when the phone is closed. I have attempted to hold down the side button, but all it seems to do is flip the image alternatively.

is this phone available in SILVER? i live in singapore and i have never seen a silver one before.. i have always thought that it is only available in black..
is there a PHONE LOCK function? can anyone who knows the answer please reply asap..

If the side button is held down, all it does is alternate the camera view horizontally and vertically. Approximately how long does this button have to be held down until the camera flash is activated?

i have it and i like it because of the mp3 player and it's dedicated buttons and oled screen!!!! you can download mp3 from your pc to your phone by using the cd rom ( it is inside the phone's box......

yes if u just click the side of it it will put the camera upside down if u hold it without letting go it will activate flash i own this phone for 3 days and i know everyphone and feature it has....(uploading song) install the disk and make sure ur pc support USB 2.0 or else its not going to work install PIM MANAGER 2.0 after you install it make sure the phone is online on the top menu if it is offline then u have to install the phone unit as a Modem so that it will recognize it.... after that click the + right next to the phone and there you go you can put MP3 music video make sure it is in 3gp format and put pictures and other files... if you need more question feel free to email me natedoog2004@comcast.net

With regards to using the camera flash while the phone is closed, pressing the up and down button on the side of the phone doesn't seem to work. All it seems to do is flip the camera view vertically or horizontally.

i'd very much like to know about the phone lock as asked by the previous poster.. also may i know whether the phone has a dictionary function.. i find that function very useful..
can anyone who knows the answer reply asap because these are my deciding factors as to whether to buy the phone or not.. thanks..

His. This fone aint so bad...i aktwaly think its really slick. My no.1 complaint about it though is that I can't use the mp3 files as a message alert tone for incoming text messages....it seems to only apply for incoming calls. I just purchased this unit a couple of days ago (still in the process of getting familiar with its features) so unless I'm mistaken about not being able to set downloaded mp3 songs as message alert tones, I would appreciate it if anyone can advise me asap. Thanks peeps.

This phone is da bomb. Its slicker than grease :) I only have one complaint about it though...i dunno if anyone out der shares da same sentiments. I can't used da mp3 songs I downloaded as a message alert tone for incoming text messages! It only applies for incoming calls. Please advise if it is possible to set downloaded mp3 songs as text message alert tones because I actually just purchased this unit a couple of days ago and am still in the process of familiarizing myself with its features. Thanks.
