On paper the d900i is the better phone but couldnt decide so ordered both, well the only thing going for the d900i is the flash on camera other than that the e840 is much better.not much difference in phone layout etc but the e840 has lots of extras that are lacking in the d900i such as effects to edit your images like warp (v funny) and the ability to use mp3 as message tones.I like the toolbar on homescreen for easy access to the phones menus.also has sunlight mode to see screen better in bright light.Im just glad I compared both as everyone seems to think the d900 is the better of the two but if your undecided like me dont be fooled and go for the e840.

The phone is good. The mp3 quality is fantastic if u use a third part adapter and useing a good quality headphones. the stock handset is a joke for mp3. The a2dp works well but has major flaw. If u use stereo bluetooth for mp3 player you cant get out of the mp3 player, meaning u can only listen to song and cant multi task not even send msgs basically its locked. The other anoying thing is even when u set the option to play music in the background everytime u get a call while listening to mp3 after disconnecting the call it will ask whether to resume music player or not which kinda spoils the whole music experience. its very bad when ur driving and after u fininsh a call u have to fidle with your mobile to press some keys to resume the music. To transfer music the best option is to sync with windows media player. It works flawlesly. The file transfer is very fast. the camera is very decent for 2mp. The touch sensitive buttons is lil pain but its ok.

I asked the Samsung people. All .jad and .jar upto size of 700 kb can be installed on the phone but ONLY when they are downloaded directly into the phone.

If you transfer the file via the Phone Explorer, it wont work...

Install games on samsung SGH E840 mobile

.0AHere%...........................................................................iles to the phones memory to the 'Other Files' folder.
You can transfer the files from Samsung PC Studio's 'Phone Explorer', or just transfer it straight to the memory card and move it to 'Other Files' from the phone's menu.
If you don't have a .jad file, you can download 'Jad Maker' (google) and make a new one.
just drag and drop your .jar file into "jad maker" screen and it will make .jad file 4 u.

                              2. Exit all menus and type in this code: *#9998*4678255#.
You should now get a 'Activated' message. Java install is enabled.

                              3. Go to the 'Other Files' folder and select the .jad file (should be 1kb).
Press 'Options' (left touch key) and you should get a 'Do you want to install' question.
                              Press 'Yes' to install.

                              4. To deactivate Java install, simply type the same code again.
You should now get a 'Deactivated' message."

hope it may work, i haven't tried right now.
but very soo i m gonna try this.

I own one since over 6 months...
Themes cant be downloaded on the phone. The speaker is not good enough, but overall the phone is pretty good.

I DO NOT recommend buying an E840 after Nokia N70. Go for something better...

And yes, the keytone of xylophone can be changed or switched off from sound settings...
