I went in with a motorola or Nokia flip in mind and came out with a Samsung, How did that happen! : )

End of the day, couldn't have made a better choice!

The Menus are quite intuitive, the displays are vivid and crisp, the sound quality is stunning for a handset.

Tried the camera and the motion video recording, and can expect nothing but this as the benchmark for competitors!

I'm a 27 yr old guy, not the most tech savvy, but bought the phone in toronto, paid $380 for it, with 512MB MicroSD memory disk.

Will update with future ravings or peeves..

    Cheers!

    Neil

Hi kj, i've found the phone to be quite smooth, really easy to use. I've picked it up quite quickly, and i thought i'd find it complicated compared to what i was used to before - a motorola - but it's simple to use. And the camera is really good quality, my pics have come out excellent. You can adjust the zoom and the lighting, and you can have the photos in various colours. Also the video quality is excellent. I have to say this is the best phone i've had as regards photo/video quality.

          Hope this helps :)

I haven't actually seen one of these phones in the shops around me so i don't know an exact price. I upgraded on my O2 contract so it was free for me, but if i was on pay-as-you-go it would have cost me £199.99 to upgrade, so i guess that gives you an idea of roughly how much it will cost in the shops. I've seen them for sale on ebay at around buy-it-now prices of £239.99.

Uma - this phone really isn't big or thick, it's a really neat and dinky phone. When i first saw pics i thought it was going to be bigger than what it was but it's so cute. It's really thin and very lightweight, it looks more like an i-pod than a mobile phone. You really should give it a go, i don't think you'll be disappointed :o)

I first saw it from the ELLE magazine. It looks so cute and suit for a woman. I am kind of like it sooooo much. But after I had checked for the size. I think it is quite thick and big for me. If it was smaller and thinner. I would buy it for sure.

Help! - Will this phone work with Cingular? I know they merged w/ ATT so the towers are 850 and 1900. This phone only has the 1900 band (plus the other bands from abroad.) Will I get the coverage I need here in the US? Is this phone going to be modified for US distribution? No answer from Samsung. Has Anybody got any experience with tri-band phones in the US?

Music can be minimised, but needs to stop in camera mode.
It can also be played while closed.
Music quality is nice. Compared to my nano, of course I will choose nano, but this is a very nice alternative for short term.
Headphone jack does not exist. only can use its own handsfree(stereo).
Recording is in MP4, but can also record in 3gp.
Flash can be turned on during video, but don't rely on it...
When recording as 3gp, limit was 9 seconds.
When recording as mp4, 10 minutes and still going...I ddn't want to waste time anymore.
Display is absolutely fabulous. you have to see it to believe it:P
Picture of the Number pad from the old posts is totally different. the number pad looks delicious:P

If this also supported 3G, it would have been the best phone ever...
Just got it today and I love it. Hope you do too.

I've posted a couple of questions on here about how many SMS this phone will hold. I've been using this phone for just over a week now and i could only see that it would hold 20 SMS, so i contacted Samsung and their technical team told me how to find the amount.

Look at the memory status option in your messages section, it will tell you how many SMS your sim card will hold. For mine (i'm on O2) it will store 20 SMS. If you click the right arrow button at the top of the phone you'll see a screen which tells you how many SMS the actual phone will hold, which Samsung say is usually 200 (mine is). Click the right arrow again and you'll see the memory available for MMS, then again for Email memory, then again for Broadcast messages, then Push messages, then Configuration messages.

So it does hold quite a lot of SMS and i'm a lot happier about it all, as i text A LOT!!! :) I really like this phone, i've got used to it quite quickly. The only thing i don't like is that there is only a choice of 5 message tones, and i can't use any downloaded tones as message tones. Apart from that though it's a brilliant phone, very light and very smart! :D

                                hey kj:

it can only store inbox sms inside sim card, so if for instance your sim card can have 20 mgs (as mine does) the phone can only that amount! it this dificult to understand?

someone says here that there are sim cards with 200 sms storage space..here at vodafone (pt) don't...

                                    hello!

i love this phone for a while; i've been reading almost all posts and i get the feeling it is not so good as the exterior looks.

i have a panasonic VS6 and it's very functional. the software is amazing, very intuitive just like some new nokias (yes, close to symbian os) and it's fast! i can write a sms message very fast with it.

it's sad that this samsung has not space for sms messages as i am very text-dependent =)

to TXRM: panasonic VS6 has space for 500 sms messages (inbox+outbox), but of course try it before you buy it. mine is unlocked so i don't know if operator locked versions has this space at all.

                                    cheers
