@ k.s. - It's not available by any US carrier, you can get them on Ebay or the import shops listed to the left of the phones profile on here.

@lotus - Yes it works in the US. On T-Mobile and where Cingular uses the 1900mhz band. Setting it up for messsaging isn't very difficult at all.

Does any one know if this phone will work in the United States? Can you send picture message in the United States? Thanks!

Well it is a little stupid on actually USING the microSD-card. Things can be manually COPIED to the card, but I haven't found a way to store them directly on the microSD. I don't think you can even move sms to the microSD.
Might be a speed problem, might be saving battery - or just stupid firmware.
Another stupid firmware bug. If you turn on broadcast messages on channel 50 (that is display current gsm-cell), you will see that they pile up in the incomming list, where you may manually remove them one by one!!!
At least that goes for firmware E870DXFD6
Check firmware version: *#9998*1234#

Thanks for your comments re: messages. I've gone over the 20 mark so it looks like so far so good. I've bought a memory card (i think it's 512MB???) so hopefully i'll be able to store a decent amount on mine.
One more question... does anyone have any problems when speaking on the phone? I only started using it yesterday so i've only made one call, but it was quite hard to understand what my friend was saying, it was either too loud or too quiet, nothing inbetween, and i was having to ask him to repeat everything! Is this normal or just a one-off??

Btw if you're looking to get the Valentine Pink it's not really pink but more of a matalic pink/lavender I don't know how to explain it. But I thought it was going to be more pink.

I just got a Valentine Pink E870 a couple of days ago and I love it. It's simple but has just enough features.

Well, by default incomming sms are stored on the sim, and outgoing in the phone. I haven't found a way to change that. The max-number depends on the sim card, some got 10, many 64K cards got 200. I got one with 200, so I'm lucky to be able to have 200 of each kind.
Be aware when sending to multiple reciepients that this phone stores one sms per receipient - making it tiresome to cleanup...

Hello,
I was wondering if someone can tell me how i get my E870 to store more texts/messages please. I've just upgraded to this phone and i really like it, it's so light and compact and has lots of features. The only thing i'm not happy with is it says i can only have 20 messages. That's no good for me, i need it to store far more than that. Reading someone's review further down the page it says they can get 200 messages stored on their E870. How do you do that???? Thanks for any help.
Wendy :o)

Should have read:
Nokia has generally hopeless hardware, but the best software and displays. With Motorola it's the opposite, and Samsung comes in with a wide range of usefull compromises...

Hi David.
Well, your height would not pose a problem, the phone is easy to lift... :-P
But I could not recomend it with heavy use. Especially if you are sending sms to muliple persons. The functionallity are there allright, but it takes a lot of superflous keystrokes. Almost as bad as Motorolas software, but far from usability of Nokia.
But if the alternative is another samsung, well then this is good... I'm a happy user at least.
A thing like a display that works also in sunshine is a blessing compared to my old hopeless razr.
As I usually say:
Nokia has hopeless hardware, but the best software. With Motorola it's the opposite, and Samsung comes in with a wide range of usefull compromises...
...Could we only have nokia software and Motorola workmanship...

Hi,
Im trying to decide between the E870 and the E900. My main concern is that i have always had nokia's and love the simplicity when when sending a text. I have heard that the E900 is very awkward to text on (cant hold down cancel key to delete a few words at a time, touch sensitive keys easy to press by mistake and cancel the text etc) and also the inability to have ring and vibrate at the same time.
Please can you offer any advice or guidance. I am a very high user and am on the phone for a couple of hours a day and send 20+ texts a day.
Many thanks,
David.

Hi, i've just upgraded to the Samsung E870 but they haven't provided me with a memory card, and as it stands i can only get 10 SMS on the phone without one. Does anyone know where i can buy a memory card and what sort of card i need please? Hope you can help :)

Hello, I was wondering where I could find a long review of this phone. Also, what phone do you think is better? This or the D820?
