I reviously have owned the Moto Razr V3i, Nokia 6260, Nokia 3200, Nokia 3210.
As you can see I am a big fan of Nokia phones but then I started to realise how boring the designs were and how expensive the phones were, but back to the Samsung E900.
When you first hold the phoneyou realise how light and sophisticated it looks. The screen is large and the menu navigation buttun is allthat you can see on the front. The sliding mechanism is smooth an reveals a clear alpha-mumeric keypadwith silver trimmings in between.Turn the phone around and you will see the 2 megapixel camera, a 'mirror' and the flash.
Installing the sim and battery isvery easy and the memory card is slotted in at the bottom of the phone for easy access which is a very good extra and prevents constantly removing the battery like with some phones (ahem V3i). Turn the phne on and you are greeted with a nice samsung phone club animationn and samsung sgh-e900 welcome message. The skin is black by defauly and although there may not be a much of a choice of skins, the skins available are still sophisticated but my opinion is the white skin is the better of the two. It must be noted I went straight on to testing the mp3 capabilities so put some tunes on there which was very easy with the usb andinstallation cd(drag and drop). It must be noted that the headphones included gave excellent sound quality and are very loud although very unattractive. The loud speaker is disgraceful for such an advance phone.Itlacks and base and has too much treble resuling in a flat sound with the snare being the loudest partof the song you can hear. Sound affects do sound good and so do games. The camera is the average 2mp camera and does suffer from bad shutter lag. You need a steady hand and to remain in the same position for at least 5 seconds after taking the photo for it not to turn out blurred. The video camera is one of the best I have used.It is very clear when recording and doesnt have the pixellation that comes up on other phones when you move the camera whilst recording. The screen is very bright and produces a very sharp picture but dosnt have the animated menus like n the d600.The phone has a dedicated mp3 and camera button which is very handy and an off/on button which also acts as the unlock button to use the phone without sliding it up.Texting is easy for me as i use the side of my fingers I have realised but those who use the tip of their fingers might find difficulty with the 1,2,3 buttons. The customisation features are good but you cannot select an mp3 as a message alert tone which is a shame but not a big loss as you can use mp3s as a ringing tone.mp3s cannot be used as an alarm either.
I now get to the important bit, the touch sensitive keys. I have had a mixed experience with them buthey are just a gimmickat the end of the day but a very cool one. The keys light up when yo slide up or unlock the phone and the mp3 kes come up when you press the dedicated mp3 button whilt listening to the music player or when in the music menu. I found the pause/play button to be not very reactive but the back and forward buttons were fine.the two soft keys were also a little non reactive but I found the call and cancel call buttontobe over reactive.maybe this was just my phone or the way it is meant to be but i fond this a little frustrating.call quailty sound is good but reaching speakerphone mode is a hassle and not one touch button like a Nokia. I do reccomend this phone bu the lac of personalisation options results in me not giving this a 10 or 9 so I will give the Samsung SGH-e900 a 8.5/10.
A very good phone but lack of customisation lets it down.camera is very good although suffer from lag and touch sensitive keys are unblanced in sensitivity.

Can anyone give some detailed info about the phonebook?
Recently, Samsung has been de-evolving on some features.
Before, you were able to input several numbers within a single contact name. (Cell, Home, Work... etc)
Some of the recent Samsung models, they have reverted back to having individual etries for each different type of number!
You would have to have different names for each number, if that person had several contact numbers.
(For example: John Doe Home, John Doe Cell... etc.)
I refused to purchase a D600 because of this.
I know this may not be a big deal to most of you, but it is one of the biggest problems for me. It's even a bigger problem than battery life or other major issues.
Can anyone tell me if this phonebook has the same problems?
Thank you for your input.

I have just got a E900 and compared it to the nokia 6280. The design of the E900 is brilliant and once you get the hang of the touch buttons its fantastic, the camera and video are also really good. There are a couple of little things which are better on the Nokia such as being able to change the msg tone to what you want and the camera is slightly better at night other than that the Samsung wins.
Everyone who has a mess with mine wishes they had it.

Just got my E900 this morning, and seems pretty good. v impressed with the camera. couple of questions though:
is it possible to download new skins/themes from anywhere? the 2 with it are pretty boring
is the top part meant to wobble slightly when slid out? when i touch the left hand side of the top screen, like the phone button, it wobbles slightly. pretty annoying, and doesnt happen when i touch the buttons on the right side. just wondering if this is normal, or if theres something wrong and i should contact my phone company.
thanks very much

E900 dont have auto focus. So does tat cause any problem when u are taking pic, or does it works kinda fine compared to other 2MP camera that have autofocus?
And E900 do have 4x zoom rite? anyway, how about the shutter speed? heard some ppl here complaining about having to mantain ur hand stable for a long time since the shutter is slow......is it true?

i know how to go to the camera settings and change the sound, however for my e900, i bought iit in hong kong its called a e908 instead
im guessing that this version,
it doesnt have the option to change the sound to none, there is only sound 1 to5 to choose from
i was wondering if anyone as an input code i can punch in to turn of shutter sound?
thx

Curious... For mi... The sound quality is beri good... Beri loud enuff for mi... My ringing tone i put to lvl 1, and sometime i find it quite loud... The picture quality taken using the camera is also beri good.. and after taking the pic.. we can do some effects to it... like changing to greyscale, emboss etc.. or you can install pc studio (a installation disc is given) den connect ur phone to ur pc by USB cable (provided too)... Then u edit ur pic from there too.. more effects.. u can even create animations from ur pic... you can edit ur music too... Battery wise, coz i juz got not long ago, so recently i charge it again after using two days... coz i used the camera quite alot during one of my outing... see whether it helps u... =) gtg work...
