The camera on the f700 is 3.15mp,,,, i know,,,, i own one! i work in vodafone and got my hands on one early,,, and,,,,,is it worth the wait,,,,,YES! trust me you'll want one. it could have done with a better qwerty keyboard, i keep forgetting where the space bar is! but if you forget that little glitch then you have a fantastic phone. btw it looks better than in the pictures!

                Hi Essien,

Thanks. I saw that review this morning and it’s not particularly good news.

                1) No editing of office documents
                2) No push email (but I’m not sure if this also means no IMAP Idle)
                3) Also from what I can see there was a temporary loss of sound during some conversations (not the first time I’ve heard that complaint about Samsung phones)
                4) And I’m not sure if I’m reading this right but just over 3hrs battery life on GSM?

On the plus side it looks like the browser can be maximised BUT the phone doesn’t sound too speedy for web browsing even with HSDPA. This is the second time I’ve seen that complaint now although the first one came from a Macphile.

I’m wondering if the DataViz software will work on this phone for Exchange push email (I’ve sent them a request). I’ve no idea about Java MIDP based software for editing Office documents though.

Regarding the German Vodafone tariffs, as far as I can tell they are charging €399 for this device no matter what contract you have and I think they will charge the same even if you don’t get a contract.

In the UK I’m thinking that it will be free on Vodafone if you take a £30 or higher tariff and I also see that it is listed as being £300 on Pay as you Go in the new Vodafone catalogue.

It looks like they rushed this phone to market to so that they could launch opposite the iPhone in Germany and I can only hope for an improved software package when it launches here at the end of the month.

                    Ok...

I used the google translator, and it translated almost everything...

Here is the translated review conclusion
                    http://www.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.xonio.com%2Fartikel%2Fx_artikelunterseite_29493363.html&langpair=de%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF8

                    Main Facts:
€399 with 2 year contract.. Way to expensive
                    Touchscreen sucks
                    No editing office files
                    Poor display

At last, someone that actually has this phone!!! It won't be in the UK for another 12 days, I'm told.

@ Drew, if you’re still around, I have a few questions about this phone.

I am seriously considering getting it but it has been pushed back again and again so I’m trying to hang on. I haven’t seen a version of the manual online anywhere yet or I would have been able to answer some of these myself.

                        So…

Do you find the interface to be quick to navigate and how is the speed of the phone in general? Fast? Sluggish? OK?

What do you think of the web browser? Do you consider it to be quick to render pages (assuming decent HSDPA coverage)? Also is the web browser the NetFront browser and can it load pages with Flash?

Can you maximise the browser so that it takes up the whole screen or must there always be some screen real estate used for icons, etc? When browsing in landscape mode is there a way to scroll up and down without touching the screen?

Is there a push Email client that can link up to Exchange? Also is there a Blackberry Connect client and can you use IMAP Idle?

Lastly can the document viewer handle Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF files and is there any way to edit Office files?

If you see this, any answers you could provide to even just a few of the questions would be really helpful.

                        Thanks.

@GFORCE - Do you own this phone? I do and I actually chose it over the iphone. 3G coverage is far greater than wifi, especially here in Germany and generally HSDPA is a lot faster than publicly shared wifi spots as well. I can surf very quickly almost anywhere and my friend who works for T-Com and carries his iphone cannot do half the things I can and he's stuck on Edge 90% of the time. I'm actually surprised how nice this phone turned out to be. It's not an iphone, just an alternative and I happen to enjoy it a lot more than I did my short lived experience with the iphone. I'm sure you are basing your opinion on use of them both though right?

when i first saw this phone, i was like, wow, samsung have come up with a phone that could beat the iPone, with its QWERTY keypad and big screen. then i clicked on the specifications link and, i was shocked to see that it did not have wifi, or any thing else for that matter. it may look good, but it is a sh*t phone

Vodafone are releasing it on the 30th November, it's on the front page of all their xmas catalogues, it'd be a bit embarassing if it didn't turn up now.

Hi, I believe that this phone has been out for a week in Germany now.

Does anyone have any idea what the operating system is? I've seen various rumours since it was announced in Feb but nothing since launch.

As I understand it, the Croix Flash interface sits on top of something else, but what?

Also does anyone who owns the phone have any comments about its web browser and general performance? Since Croix is apparently based on Flash does the web browser work with Flash based websites?

                                Thanks.

why did they change the specs? it used to have wifi, 7.2 mbps, and a 5 megapixel camera....basically a phone lover's wet dream.

You are right max. With 3 mp and no 5mp camera and no WiFi(come on, smartphone=Wifi these days) I don't see why someone won't get the P1 or the N95. It is the same mistake that nokia did with the touchscreen on the n95. They had the chance to built the best(I think it still is though) gadget around and people would pay an extra 200$ for the touchscreen trust me. This time samsung doesn't put Wifi and the best camera that they have (G800) on this device. If they did that and later add a bluetooth GPS like sony it would be game-over.

Very dissapointed for samsung, very happy for my choise not to wait for it and order my n95 8Gb

And the thing is that if you get this phone you will have every gadget-freak wannabe to tell you that his i-phone is ''better'' and you F700 is a copy of it's...Dudes it isn't any of them. Get over the ''apple is the best company in the world'' issues and get a serious phone not a magazine created icon
