Samsung fixes Galaxy S25 camera issues with new update

Yordan, 14 February 2025

Samsung started shipping the Galaxy S25 series at the start of this month, but some early adopters noticed problems with the camera's performance. Multiple reports on Reddit and Samsung Community revealed issues with banding, which occurs on all three phones.

The problem does not appear to be widespread, but Samsung said it is aware of the "limited number of cases" and already deployed a fix. It is likely the software update that has already arrived in Korea and is about to roll out globally.

Banding means visible unnatural stripes where smooth color transitions should be. This is most prominent in Night Mode photos, where the horizon in dusk or dawn is unusually rendered into horizontal and vertical lines.

Users indicated that other modes are functioning well, highlighting that Samsung phones have issues with the post-processing of long-exposure photos. This might just be a minor glitch, and it's reassuring to learn that it's being resolved so promptly.

There are exceptions, but in general you can't tell if colors are unnatural if you don't have reference photos.

It turned out that the problem was not software, but hardware. The super glue from the rings leaked onto the lenses. Samsung was going to release a hobby repair kit - 5 new rings and a bottle of glue.
