Samsung Galaxy A15 5G review
Display
The Galaxy A15 5G features a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED screen, an upgrade over the LCD panel on the Galaxy A14 5G. This new display has extended 1080p resolution and supports up to 90Hz refresh rate.
It is nice to see the Galaxy A1x series getting OLEDs, even if a basic one with a U-shaped cutout.
We have completed our display test, and the measurements are in line with the Galaxy A15 4G. The screen offers 363 nits of maximum brightness at the far right of the brightness scrubber - not exactly incredibly bright, but not too dim either. The boost from the Auto brightness is significant - up to 786 nits.
The minimum brightness at point white was 1.7nit.
Refresh rate
The AMOLED screen of the Galaxy A15 5G supports up to 90Hz refresh rate. There are two Motion Smoothness modes - High and Standard. Both offer fixed 90Hz and 60Hz refresh rate modes.
There is no refresh rate drop when using the 90Hz mode even for static picture. The only time we saw 60Hz change was in Camera and Google Maps, among other HRR incompatible apps.
Battery life
Our new Active Use Score is an estimate of how long the battery will last if you use the device with a mix of all four test activities. You can adjust the calculation based on your usage pattern using the sliders below. You can read about our current battery life testing procedure here. For a comprehensive list of all tested devices so far, head this way.
The Galaxy A15 5G is powered by a large battery with 5,000mAh capacity and employs an energy-efficient chipset.
These turned out to be a great combination as the Galaxy A15 5G scored an Active Use Score of 14 hours and 31 minutes on our battery life test. It did great across all test scenarios and mostly matches the on-screen numbers of the Galaxy A15 4G.
Charging speed
The Samsung Galaxy A15 5G supports up to 25W fast wired charging. It ships without a charger, as usual. You can use any 25W PD+PPS charger, as it will reach the maximum charging power supported by the phone.
We carried out our charging test with a Samsung 25W PD/PPS charger. It recharged 29% of the A15's dead battery in 15mins and 51% in 30 mins. We captured 100% at the 83min mark. The speed is in line with other Samsung phones with similar batteries and charging capabilities.
Speaker
The Galaxy A15 5G, being an entry-level phone, has just one bottom-firing loudspeaker.
It scored a Very Good mark on our loudness test thanks to its high-pitch sounds, but the overall audio quality is average at best - there is no bass, the vocals are passable, and the focus is on the high frequencies.
