I own this phone. When I turn auto-brightness on and cover just the camera with my finger, nothing changes. It's when I cover a specific (different) part of the screen that it dims the screen brightness.
This phone has a dedicated luminosity sensor under the screen, completely separate from the camera, and that's what it uses to determine when to dim the screen. I've pinpointed its location with the help of the "Sensors - Multitool" app.

Bad... Samsung does not care to provide stable updates for this device. Dhcp on wifi does not work. Searching in settings takes forever. Apps stutter and lag.

Hi All, after upgrading to Android 11 my A31 notification sound for WhatsApp, Message is not muting though I kept silent in settings. It is bothering me whole night. Moreover, screen is turned on for every notification. How to get rid of it?

Just make sure you backup and factory reset your phone so you won't experience any weird lags...
And please GSMarena. Update the page to say that the phone is upgradable to One UI 3.1. Thank you

Is there any way to improve camera quality? I'm really getting mad every time I work with this piece of **** . I know I should not expect flagship phones cameras from this, but it takes pictures very noisy in medium light.

Peter Maximous, 27 May 2021Hey guys I have an A31 with 4Gb ram can anyone tell me if i... moreAll hail Maximous !.....either way i have the 4GB ram one and have updated mine to Android 11,for some extreme reasons i first of all cleared my cache partition before updating and also after i had updated i waited for e'vrything to load to normal on the phone,switched it into recovery mode once more and wipe the cache partition,then rebooted it,waited for it to load and then restarted it for the last time.....lol i know its a lot but follow ma step and you would be pleased and might give me a Greek name too !

The update came in the ... moreYea the update is available for Nigeria as well, upgraded mine like 2 weeks ago but to be honest I've not been too impressed with the performance, it's a bit kinda slower, it has some seconds drag or delay when I lunch search option, when I want to share a file or pix, when I'm navigating and atime when I lunch an app. I use Samsung galaxy a31 and everything was 100% excellent before the the upgrade. As we speak I've been seriously contemplating on going back to android 10
