I bought A34 last month, not because I wanted, but I had to. My previous phone started to get problems with mini jack, so after 3 years I decided to buy something new. I still have my Redmi Note 8 Pro (Android 9). Samsung was the only option among all these nowadays crap. I want adequate quality for the money spent.
First I tried to buy A52s 5G, which has all I need, but it's hard to get it in my region. I bought it as new in internet shop with electronics, but they sent me used garbage :) I turned it to the seller. I was thinking about Realme 9 Pro Plus, but it turned out, that it's hard to get and warehouses are out of stock at that moment.
Redmi Note 12 Pro - too high price for capabilities, poor battery life and I don't want Chinese stuff right now.
Poco X5 Pro and vanilla version - too high price comparing to Samsung A34, lack of waterproof, allegedly worse camera.
Poco F - too high price, I didn't wait for release, and it was good decision.
So the only reasonable option was A34. I wanted mini jack badly, but I had to surrender.

General experience is very good. I promised myself not to buy Samsung anymore (after S6 Edge, with damaged fast charging and overall bad battery experience after merely 10 months), but there was no choice. Samsung A34 - UI, apps, system smoothness, everything is ok. Samsung's OS grew up from 2016 S6 Edge. Battery experience is so-so. Comparing to Rn8Pro, drain is significant, unfortunately.
But the camera experience.. I expected progress when changing phone from Redmi Note 8 Pro when it comes to full resolution photos, but I am disappointed.
12 mpx photos are really ok, balance, colors, just fine. But 48 mpx mode is useless. Photos are lack in details, can't zoom in photo to use this higher resolution, they are soft and blurred. I like to do full res photos outdoor, landscapes, and Redmi does it very well.
But Samsung, 50% more expensive than Redmi at the time of buying, failed at this point, very.
I'm lucky that I could use cash back promo and overall Samsung costs me less than regular, so I can sleep at night.
There was no other option, no complete, good smartphone with good price, so no choice.
I think next year I will have to spend more money and buy something with better camera and battery setup. Maybe ex-flagship model from Samsung, don't know how market will look like.

And one curious thing, out in full sun I can see fingerprint scanner on the screen.. Little square at the bottom.
My wife's A34 has the same.
My S20 FE doesn't have it.
It makes me nuts.

    Anonymous, 06 May 2023Choose color silver.This is the one I bought. It works with US Mobile - T-Mobile just fine. Every once in a while, 5G goes in and out. Doesn't like Poweramp player. So using Blackplayer EX fine. So far so good but hard to get cases locally. So, you have to special order a case. I got 1More Sonoflow wireless over ear headphones and uses LDAC codec fine with Dolby Atmos on. Stereo speakers sound okay with movies. I like this phone. I got it for the 4 major updates. I couldn't afford the A54.

        But if you are a Xiaomi die hard fan, go for the Xiaomi.

              I have to admit the A34 is a very good proposition. I kinda feel like the A54 and A34 are similar in closeness to the Pixel 7 and 7a.

              Other than the teardrop and a little here there's not a huge difference. Plus Dimensity looks better for battery life than the Exynos.

                If I were to buy one of the Samsung Galaxy A34 (charger included) for Rs 26,875 ($324) OR the Xiaomi Note 12 Pro for Rs 23,500 ($283), which one should I go for?

                                      If your budget is tight go for the 128Gb 8Gb RAM plus a 128Gb memory card even a 256gb card £15 & £25 respectively. ( Samsung A34 supports memory card up to 1 Tb) Memory cards are very cheap so don't skimp high spec memory card highest transfer speed. I have a memory card in mine for a different reason. Music albums are in folders, random songs in the music folder, some special photo in their own folde. It was so easy, even though there is a transfer ability, no transfer via USB cable. At the moment I can't find a call duration in the call log, you get a notice of duration at the end of the call, however not retained, this would be a first
