Guys, can we appreciate just how "decent" this phone is for the asking price? ;D
But... I don't like the UI... Yeah, not for me. I'll remain a diehard Pixel fan, even if their lineup sucks and is super-expensive. :((
I tried A15, A35 and A55. I can't... I just can't use any other phone. :((
And... to be honest... Pixel does sound better than Galaxy. :D

Of course they do. Just in Samsung's case those "reasons" aren't always based on logic, like making a bunch of "different" identical phones that makes no money. And on the other hand, sticking budget customers with a lack of choices while only catering to the rich.

Way to be an armchair analyst without actually knowing what's going on behind the scenes of Samsung's R&D department. Every company has reasons for making something that customers aren't necessarily aware of.

Just as the one person below mentioned, Xiaomi and Poco do the same, yet you and others don't bat an eye on them.

You see, when companies deci... moreThe survey they take is only among their own so-called "strategists", and specifically while they're intoxicated. This explains five different so-called "models" that are basically the same phone: A55, M55, F55, C55, M55s. Other A series phones also have this silliness (though the amount of A55 twins outdoes all the others).

In your opinion, could I have any problems if I buy the 128/6GB version? It is very cheap in my country for what it delivers, the 8GB version is way out of my budget even if the price goes down in the future. Or are there better options in the R$1400 price range? Unfortunately I don't know how to convert it, it's in reais (Brazil)

The same would be a mid-range A series phone.

Smart companies don't just keep the product with the biggest sales, they also have a number 2 item, number 3, number 4, etc.

It's no use advocating when companies are too big to care.

Anonymous, 18 Aug 2024The same percentage of rich people buying the compact S24 (... moreThe S24 Ultra still sold significantly better, making up 52% of this year's S-series lineup in sales, while the regular S24 only got 27%. This is enough proof that the majority of people prefer big phones.

With how fierce the competition is in the budget/midrange market, especially from Chinese companies, Samsung has no choice but to only make big phones in order to maximize sales.

If Chinese companies aren't making cheap small phones, why should Samsung? Before you answer, it's not just Samsung who makes duplicate phones either, Xiaomi does it as well with their Poco sub-brand.

The only company who still makes compact midrange phones is Sony with their Xperia 10 series, but Sony have long lost their relevance since the late 2010s, and their phones are no longer as widely available in many parts of the world.

Just as the compact S phone seems to be a worthwhile investment to make, so would the compact budget phone by the same logic.

You see, when companies decide on future products, they usually take some polls. I'm guessing the age of people questioned was between 16 and 35. And, you guessed it! A large percentage of them asked for big screens! That's why we have this situation today. Sure, there were voices that advocated for smaller screens, but I'm guessing that was less than 20%. So... yeah. 80% >> 20%.

r.why.me, 18 Aug 2024The only reason to get the A54 would be if you want a sligh... moreThere is a difference in the camera department between the A54 and A35, but not huge.

For the main camera, the A35 takes photos with more natural colors, while the A54 takes saturated photos. The A54 captures details slightly better, but the A35 has less sharpening. For video recording on the main camera, both phones are almost identical.

The A54's ultrawide camera is 12MP and can record 4K 30fps videos, while the A35's 8MP ultrawide is limited to 1080p 30fps. Ultrawide video quality here is better on A54, especially in low-light.

Finally, the A54 has a higher resolution selfie camera at 32MP, compared to 13MP on the A35. However, in my tests, the A35 has a slight edge in detail and colors.

You people waste your time fighting over phones on the internet. Please just go outside and touch grass.

Yasir, 17 Aug 2024Please help me to choose between A35 and A54, because both ... moreThe only reason to get the A54 would be if you want a slightly smaller and lighter device and if you want esim support (depending on region). Otherwise, the A35 is better overall.

                            - The SOC is better optimized and runs slightly better in A35 than in the A54.

                            - Stronger signal/network reception thanks to updated anetanna design. Qualcomms are still better but the A35 gets by. The A35 also seems to do better on navigation tasks, if this is important for you.

                            - They somehow managed to improve the battery life slightly in the A35, despite the same SOC and a slightly larger display. The A35 also seems to have better thermals i.e. runs slightly cooler.

You won't notice a difference in the camera department.

[deleted post]Where I live, both the A54 and A35 lack eSIM. So I'm considering to get an A55 instead, which does have eSIM.

On top of that, the A55 also has a metal frame, which is very rare on a $400 phone these days. The A55 feels like a proper throwback to Samsung's A-series lineups during 2016-2018 when they focused on premium designs/features, but with more competitive specs this time around.

                                - Small phone lovers want affordable compact device because they can't afford the expensive S24.
                                - Small phone haters say shut up, it's not reality, it'll never happen, you're a fool, you don't know your place, you don't deserve a phone, and you're every name under the sun.
                                - Lovers: "I have a right to ask, and you're a "hater" NOT because of your different opinion, but because you're trying to silence me, demonize me, and twist my words."
                                - Haters double down on hate and then turn reality upside down with the crazy claim that because lovers insist on not being silenced and that EVERYONE should be able to advocate for their preferred phone, it now means lovers are forcing their opinion on the haters by resisting being bullied off the stage by the haters.

Take things personally, resort to attacks, generalize, turn a blind eye, then you're almost guaranteed toxic arguments like this.

Saying "What are you a life coach or something?" just makes you sound incredibly smug and condescending. Of course you're guaranteed to make enemies if you take things on a personal level.

What's wrong with a calm response like "I respect your opinion, but I disagree because..."

Some people just can't discuss like mature adults, this applies to both the small phone lovers and haters here.
