The A3 is thinner, has bigger screen (but no too big), AMOLED, microSD, NFC and better battery life.

Worked great for me but the differences from Lollipop are minimal TBH.

The Maximum SD card that can go into this phone is 128gb the earlier model in 2015 only takes 64gb but the Samsung Galaxy A3 (2016) will take 128gb according to Samsungs Support at thsi address http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/category/mobile/mobiledevice/smartphone/
Click on last question on that page and another window opens up it talks about the 2015 model and 2016 model

I used it in a shop today and I have to say, man that is a beautiful phone. I think it could be even better than the classy iPhone SE, especially in white. Unfortunately, the rest is just average or below average (like the chipset) for that price. Hopefully Samsung will make this phone better (maybe by also reducing side bezel) in 2017.

It has less and worse RAM. The bezels are thicker (although they are quite thin on this one). It is thicker and heavier. All together, it's a lower mid range phone and not comparable to a just 2 year old flagship. You will have to wait at least another 2 years to compare it. Only advantages are newer and more beautiful design, no plastic back (but also no removable battery), microSD slot, much better battery, front cam, newer software and newer bluetooth.

I think this phone is pretty good. I got myself one of this to replace my idol 3 5,5 that died a few weeks ago while it was charging and so far the a3(2016) hasn't dissapionted me one bit is really fast for the use i gave to it that is for read documents music and pokemon go, also has good reception on the places i frequently go.
It's true that a little bit expensive but it worth the extra bucks. I reccomend the phone if you are looking for something reliable i'll say this the way to go or if you want something a little bit highend i'll say buy an a5 or pick something from sony or Oneplus (i really like the Oneplus X)
