I really recommend this phone, its execellent. Small and handy, good cameras and the UI is very smooth

December 2020 update fixed fingerprint issues, sadly battery issues are still not fixe, battery draining fast. If you havent updated your phone past may 2019 dont do it, updates are broken and will face issues, i didnt had battery problems prior 1st update. For those with updates do december update it will fix some issues. Cheers

Never seen such a good gadget before.
With strong battery and thin of it, the A40 is more than a phone.
Strongly recommended.

Have it since it came out. Battery lasts for aout 2 days of normal usage (wifi on all day). Didn't crash or freeze. Double tap to wake up works a bit hard, but I always use the side button for that.

It was really bad phone that hurt my eyes when it came out, but props to Samsung for updating it frequently and lately it is whery snappy and usable. I ise it as a second phone but eith Android 10 and One UI 2.0 it can easily be your main phone! But you have to understand it is not gor gaming ;)

There seems to be an over abundance of whiners on here moaning about the battery life. I've got an A40, and the batter lasts for days on 'normal' usage. It's obvious that if you are constantly playing with the thing all the time, the battery will drain like everything else; it's not nuclear powered for god sakes!!!!! If you like playing games all the time, plug it into the mains, use some common sense!
I cannot fault mine, had it since last year, by far the best phone I've had, and I've had a few. It's got an excellent camera almost equal to the quality of my Nikon D850 DSLR.
The movie format is an excellent 1080 px too. With 4 gig of RAM, it's lightening fast too. Charging only takes an hour or so tops from a totally flat battery almost, so no waiting forever.
Sound quality is brilliant, you can use different presets for different types of music, or use the graphic equalizer to make a custom preset. The sound is crystal across all ranges (reproduced through a twin Bluetooth speaker system having compared it to the sounds settings on a graphic equalizer on a separates HiFi unit using the same song.
Also, if you think the sound quality is not right, try adjusting the graphic equalizer to suit your taste.
I think by reading many posts, a lot of people have just been making up stories to pull this phone down and give it a very bad review.
Its a fantastic phone, one of the best on the market in it's price bracket. Don't be fooled by silly negative reviews people.

SAMI, 29 May 2020no water-resistant, dead after heavy rain :/No surprise there!!! How many mobiles are truly waterproof??? next time when in heavy rain, keep it in your handbag, better still make sure it is well protected inside it, like a plastic bag...... just to be on the safe side ;-)

I think some people have a faulty phone. Get it checked out by a technician. I've had one since Christmas 2019 and, I will say I cannot fault it in any way at all. It is way way far superior than any mobile I've had. The worst being a Vodafone Smart Turbo which has virtually no RAM to use properly. The camera on this A40 is second to none and the quality is as good as my very expensive DSLR Nikon camera, as is the movie modes. Mine came with the 64 Gig memory, which I boosted up to 192 Gig; but will take even a much bigger SD memory card if needed. It's lightening fast compared to my other old phones too. Occasionally Argos or Amazon have this beauty on offer, take advantage of that, you won't be disappointed!!

Worst Samsung and worst phone overall I ever had. After 3 months of use is already lagging badly, it can not handle any mother games or a more exigent app + chrome at the same time. Even typing fas is sometimes a problem :')
Main camera is shit both in light and dark conditions. After a month 4g began having issues and basically HD and online games are impossible. Build quality = more or less kinder surprise egg.

It is the worst phone I have ever bought. I got a much cheaper one before this one, and I had no problem with my last phone. I only bought the A40 cos it has like 64 gb and I simply bought it for the extra gb because I need a lot more storage space, but out of every phone I've ever had, it is the worst. It has put me under so much stress. The battery is an absolute mess. Sometimes it doesn't charge properly and you have to tamper with it to get it charging. It constantly says 'no sim card inserted'. Now I ordered a new sim card just in case it's my sim card that's damaged r something. If not, I have to try call customer care and get it sorted. I did call Samsung one time, and the guy was so unhelpful, didn't have the answer at all. I don't know what's happened to Samsung. I always thought they were pretty good, but for my next phone, I don't think I will be getting a Samsung again. I've had a horrible experience with the Galaxy A40, but I'm stuck with it now. I can't afford a new phone. This will have to do me until I can save up for a non-Samsung phone.

Ok phone, great features for the price. Signal seems better than the J5/6 and A series but screen is just as fragile. Users seem to get a slight hairline crack on the front from minor drops and then within a few days the screen is black and will not power on. Cost for screen replacement is 85% value of replacement handset so I I'm amassing quite a few of these (6) broken in my drawer... It's worth getting a full armour case for these, but be prepared to replace every 1-2 years in a hard work environment (so back data up!).
