Samsung's response to the broken fingerprint sensor is "Go to a service center". They don't acknowledge the bad hardware and even worse software. I was hoping to use this phone for longer, but even ignoring the glued down battery without pull tabs, it seems impossible to not get mad on a daily basis using this thing.
One day it works fine, and the next day it doesn't recognize my fingerprints.
I am at the point of searching for another phone, yet again...Unfortunately there is only chinese alternatives that I want to avoid. If someone has a suggestion I would appreciate it. The 4000mAh battery was the only reason I bought this phone.

Most of the comments here are biased. To some it is the best and to some it is the worst!!
To me (after using for like five months)
Pros are
* Wonderful Display
* One UI is great (user friendly and a lot of useful..
customizations )
* Very good and capable processor
* Good battery life (after october update)
* Glastic design is eye catchy and personally plastic is
more durable and light weight than glass
* Videos recorded by main camera are good.
Cons are
* A slight Network issue. You can live with that though( After hearing a lot of negative review about november update I'm still in october update)
* Under display fingerprint scanner is slow and bad.
* Audio output through phone speaker is very bad but enough loud.
* Still picture output isn't good. If you zoom it you will see that pics are very very soft. (Aggressive noise reduction)

I heard there has been an update just this December but when
I try to update my phone it tells me I have the latest update meanwhile
It's still the November update. I don't know why can someone help me?

Things that improved the fingerprint sensor for me:
- Factory reset; backup your data on Samsung Cloud first. Remember to disable two factor authentication on your accounts (if generated with an app).
- Register fingerprints in a completely dark room. I was able to register two fingerprints successfully. The third attempt gives an error message.
- Disable "Screen transition effect" in Biometrics and Security -> biometrics preferences.
- Enable "Show icon when screen is off" in Biometrics and Security -> Fingerprints.
