Okay, it's time to share my usage with this device.
I've been having it for over half a month now, and i will tell you everything about it.
My baseband version is A505FXXU2ASH2.
I bought this device from my phone carrier called Telekom, or as many like to refer to it, T - Mobile, Makedonski Telekom, or Macedon Telekom.
I bought this device for 13,990 Denars (MKD) , which in Euros is around 225.464, and in American (US) Dollars is around 249.459. But still, you have to keep in mind that prices might vary in your country, because this device will not hold the same price in different markets.
The original price for this device, at Telekom was around 20,000 Denars (MKD), and in the rest popular Mobile Shops such as Telekom and Mobelix, they had their prices around 16 ~ 17k Denars (MKD), again depending on the RAM/Storage variant.
At my carrier, the only variant they had was the 4GB RAM / 128GB ROM one. Telekom did not have, nor offer the 6GB RAM variant. When i got there to get the device, they only had a blue color, thus i wanted black, but it's fine.
And yes, i had to sign an agreement, about renewing my data / mobile plan, so i could therefore buy this device for a cheaper price, which i did.
First time of usage this device felt fine. It did overheat, but i did not care too much. And i also experienced battery draining, but that was because i kept installing apps for my phone.
The next day, it refused to charge. I was thinking about returning this to my carrier, but after googling up about this issue, all i had to do was just reboot, and boom it solved my issue. No more charging problems.
And yes, i got a 2 year warranty too.
Camera feels meh. I like the ultrawide, and most of the shots do end up with washed up and un - balanced colors, but for the rest is fine. The scene optimizer does help a bit, when it comes to boosting image colours, so that the image looks less washed out. The camera did also get some new things after a software update i got after getting this device (which i think was the June update, or July), such as Night Mode, and Super Slow - Mo.
Night mode, is not the best, nothing like a Huawei or a Pixel, but for this device at the current price range, its pretty great. So is the Super Slow - Motion, but it does not record for too long.
Now that we got the camera out of the way, lets talk about charging.
Well 15 Watts, atleast for me, on a 4,000mAh battery is great, and it manages to impress me. But anyways, im not a guy that's always in a hurry or something so i don't care that much if my device will charge sooner or later. Battery, at the end of the first week did actually get back to normal and now acts like an actual 4,000mAh battery. Maybe it did not feel like it at first because i kept using the device for long periods of time and kept installing apps, idk but it's fine now. And yeah, it does last me a lot, and im satisfied with it.
Now the speakers.
They are quite loud actually. Not crazy loud or anything, but just loud. Also, idk if this is just me, or everyone else but when at Max volume sound does sound a bit crunchy, imo.
Display is eyerape, we don't even need to talk, Samsung is the king of displays, period.
Front facing camera shares most of the same story with the one on the back.
Portrait photos look fine to me, on both front and back cameras.
And now the fingerprint scanner under the display...
Well when i first set it up, with a screen protector (not Whitestone Dome), the fingerprint did work, it registered my finger, and it still works fine. You don't need any specific screen protector, because the fingerprint scanner will work fine eitherways. It might be a bit slower, but you can increase the display (touch) sensitivity in the settings, which will make the fingerprint scanner that's under the display more sensitive to fingers. With the previous versions, it did work but not all of the time. It would still miss my fingers from time to time, but now with the 1st of August software update, it did improve the speed and scanning rate, so i added my fingers again, and it is better now, i mean it feels like so.
While we're at software updates, I've gotten 2 so far and they are on a regular basis, just always on time, which is what i like.
I'm fine with the body, and i give huge respect to Samsung for choosing a plastic back instead of glass back, because glass is more fragile, it cost more money to replace, and many cheap phones that have a glass back, do not have a use of it (eg. Wireless Charging).
Now the Volume buttons are placed on the right side, which took, and takes me time to get used to their current position.
Bixby is here, and like it or not it ain't leaving. For me by default the power key was what a power key does, and that is take you to the power menu, but it also gave me a recommendation, if i would like to use Bixby instead, which i choose later. Yes i use Bixby, and i find it more smarter than Google Assistant for many things.
And, the last.. One thing i do not like is the placement of the headphone jack. Feel like they should've placed it at the right side instead, so when holding the phone vertically, it feels more natural for the 3,5mm hole to be on the right side instead, especially when holding the phone in landscape mode with headphones, atleast for me it is noticeable, and sometimes annoying, especially when i have to charge and listen at the same time.
Gaming:
PUBG Mobile runs fine. By default it detected the graphics on high, which is good. I never get any frame drops, or lag when playing the game. But yeah, just for any heavy task, this device will start to heat up. I mean, for me it's not a problem. Every cheap phone can overheat too. Even flagships sometimes do too.
Asphalt 9 legends runs on Medium graphics, and it runs fine with no stutter, nor lag, but however just like in PUBG, after longer periods of continuously playing 3D games, this devie does start heating up.
RAM management, considering I have the 4GB RAM Variant is fine, not the best but considering how much RAM i have, it is fine for me. I'm usually left with around 1,6 to 1,8 GB of free RAM.
The cutout also does not bother me.
And lastly, One UI is perfect. It is a great UI, that has lots of useful stutf, even dark mode which came way before iOS 13 and Android 10. It's perfect for one handed usage too.
So in conclusion:
Yes, you should buy this. You won't make a mistake. It's an A class, not that trashy old J class which isn't worth giving a single penny. A class is Samsung's premium mid - range class.
Yes, go for this instead of the A70. Thus A70 is better in many aspects, it's really big and large. I played with the A70 too, but that one is way bigger. This one fits perfectly in the pocket.
Overall, I'd rate this device 8/10.
