I am using A50 from last 9 months.I am very unsatisfied with the quality of the phone including its features and the updates, and the too much high price for the inferior quality.
About a month ago, suddenly the screen turned off by self, when I tried to turn it on by pressing the power key and the lower volume key, it didn't turn on. So I had to take it to the service center. They said that there's some issue with the software, but it was repaired. Any body reading this, can please let me know for how long will my repaired phone last?

Kl, 25 Aug 2020But Xiaomi phones are so laggy and buggyWell it used to be before miui 11.Even the new user interface is spot on.Btw before is start i'm using my a50 cz it got it as a present and i can't get rid of it without making some people really unhappy.

My 50 (4GB/128GB varient) lags/freezes time to time while i'm using it on moderate loads but redmi note 8 (4GB/128GB varient) runs things smoothly and it's is half of the price of my a50. What is meant by a moderate load is opening 5-10 chrome tabs while having 2-3 apps minimised in the background.Recently it started to freeze for few second while i was exercising (i only had that app along with Samsung music playing a song).

And while samsung colour science may be only seconded to sony's samsung camera sucks,A50 being a mid range phone but only gives users limited camera api2 support ? While the cheapest xiaomi ones gives users full access to it.

A50 has no hyptic feedback (afaik even a70/80 doesn't have them) and editing the system setting via setedit only turns it on for soft keys not for the keyboard (idk about third party ones though) .Apparently it seems like those are only meant for the "High end ones or flagships" while xiaomi offers for most if not all of their phones.

And their ota updates are fast.Unlike with the a50 where i had to wait 3-4 months to get the new android version when it started rolling out globally. Miui12 was available to my country within 2-3 weeks after they started rolling out globally.

My credibility ? I've used 4-5 sony phones starting from sp and ending from Z5 premium.I repair phones as a side buisness.(usually software nothing chip level, but there have been exceptions). There's a lot more like part replacements, spare part prices, etc but i won't bore you but i would like to point out I'm also the tech guy in our family/friends so if anything goes wrong i'm more or less screwed, by now i have recommended around 30 - 40 phones over the last several years and since about 2-3 years now,it's really getting hard to recommend anything other than xiaomi or huawei (much like xiaomi but better user interface) unless ofc they are getting a high end/flagship device.(Man i miss sony phones, software wasn't the best but the camera was on another level good build, easily repairable, etc .Just solid phones overall. We don't have sony in our country anymore.)

So there's a lot more stuff i can go on but i won't bore you with those. However i'll add this, yesterday my small kid had splashed some water (a 4 year old can only splash so much water with his tiny human hands) to the down side (charging port side). Luckily wife had seen this.Touch wasn't working. So i took it apart (within 5-10 mins of the incident) except for a little bit of water around the charging port and audio port there wasn't hardly any signs of water to be seen and it hadn't even made to the daugher board (which is what those ports were attached to).Tbh I was bamboozled, then i decided to take apart the screen and voila there was water on the display flex (along the small chips ,etc). It was fine after letting it dry in the sun for a hour or so.But putting things together ,i was greeted with a error saying finger print calibration needed if this persists contact support (a common error users had after the android 10 update).Unless you to access to Samsung the official Samsung diagnostic tools via gspn the only way we mere mortals can solve this is via flashing the os using odin.(nope resetting didn't work) I think it's cs i unplugged the senser from the board and YouTube disassembly vids usually don't check the fingerprint after assembly.(it's quite possible that this is due to the new os)

OP mentioned a decent budget for a good mid tier phone so taking everything into account and adding my personal experience if you want the nest bang for the buck, best hardware you can buy,a really decent os with 2-3 major updates (may not be the prettiest one but it's quite capable and had almost everything you'll ever need,no lags. Most importantly they've added useful features in miui12.) xiaomi is the way to go.

This is the most problematic phone I've ever owned. The battery would continually drain( at 7 months old, )despite doing all the things a user would typically do. Verizon advised me to call tech support when I wanted to return the phone. They took SIX hours of my time to have me erase, back up, etc. A few days after this, now the phone absolutely will not connect to my car with the bluetooth. Unbelievable

I used A50 for about one year and a month and it started to restart continuously for several days until it stucked at the restart at the Samsung A50 name and it remains their until the phone battery drains, I did entered the recovery mode by clicking the power and volume up together, tried to reboot or format the phone, nothing happened. I took it to the Samsung service they said it needs a new board and it costs 150$ about half its price. Too bad coz I liked my phone very much during this year until this happened. Any advice for a new phone for budget around 300$-400$
