That is why we need brands like Sony who don't give a stuff to trends and be individually different.

A53 has under display fingerprint scanner and not side mounted as you specify in specs.

And u will find all desire and useful features on a xperia even if there is not from the latest models.
5 years and u have not to worry about battery replacing becouse it will run like first day of buying it.
A perfect camera even with low mp.
Mp does not mean great picture.
I had A52 and its camera was not good at all.

We all know Xperia has the best optimization and ram management.
I have XZ1 with just 4 gb ram and android 9.
Take every samsung with 6 or 8 ram and higher android i will beat it easy.

He a53 has minor(if any cause bot phones have literally the same camera hardware) upgrade in camera and a 500 mah extra battery than a52s. A52s is also a $100 or even more cheaper with a 3.5mm jack.
And the chip IS NOT A MINOR UPGRADE. The unofficial benchmark is usually under lab tests which are higher than normal. A52s has 49% better results in multi core. This is not minor in any way.

If the phone heats up more, have lower battery backup, lower camera performance etc what is the point in having a slight performance edge in CPU limited tasks ?

What available now is the unofficial Geekbench score which cannot be depended upon to reach a conclusion. As a whole the new Exynos 1280 is more efficient, feature packed with latest 5G modem is what really matters.

In benchmarks 778g beat exynos 1200 heavily. There is no need to go into the what process it's using. Smaller size usually relates to less batter used meaning more efficiency. So if you want more battery than go for a53 but I don't think there will be a big difference. You can only wait till the mobile review for that. Performance wise a52s
