You can expect a mid-range phone to have high performance since mid-range chips of today can't be compared with mid-range chips of three years ago. Only difference between flagship and mid-range should be gaming performance and other heavy processes. If my phone lags when scrolling or opening simple apps it can't be called a smartphone. Chipsets like Snapdragon 695 for example are outdated and inacceptable.
Moreover, there are many older flagship chipsets that could be used in today's mid-range phones. I don't think that a Snapdragon 865 or 870 would be more expensive than a snapdragon 778G or Exynos 1380.

Will there be an A74? The A72 was a great phone, the A73 came with degraded camera (no more telephoto camera) and now the A74 is gone.

bought this A54 coming from an S10e. Its a great device and dont listen to anyone who does not own this device. Its better than you think.
It feels premium thanks to the back glass and weight.
The display is from an S21 its bright and looks fantastic.
120hz feels amazing and fluid.
The Chip is fast, this is not a 1280 A53 its more efficient and faster.
Thanks to one ui 5 everything feels smooth with 120hz on top of it.
The main camera is very good even at night.
The front camera is also good.
The speakers are loud and punchy.
The battery last 2 days on normal usage. Heavy use 1 full day with 30% to spare.
Does not overheat like most people are saying, they are probably gaming for long hours and playing heavy games.
Even the haptics are good like the S10e.
You also get 5yrs of updates.
Im not easily impressed especially with a midrange device but this one really is good.
I feel samsung held it back as nobody would buy the S23 if this had a 778g+ and telephoto.

The Major issue is the phone getting warm / heated up even in nomal usage like browsing , using multiple Apps etc. Even when idling at night with internet switched off and Nil Background activity it loses about 5 % which is bad . Hope samsung gets this fixed ASAP as apart from this the phone is good in other departments

Been a Galaxy user for more than a decade, and have been using my A8 2018 for 5 yrs now, and had 3 yrs of software updates, and still works just fine, except for its limited storage space.
Samsung updates is no joke, and glad to hear that their latest devices has more than 3 yrs of updates.
Will use this A8 until it dies.

AutoFocus, 05 Jun 2023It is superior in most of the cases: https://nanoreview... moreDont be a fool just by providing a link of comparison...i am a user of both a52s as well as a54 5g..the a54 5g is superior to a52s in all the departments...the only department where a52s has been able to level a54 is in performance atleast for now..because after a few updates a54 will in all likelihood surpass a52s even in performance also...but in every other department, be it camera, battery life, display, ui features everything a54 is a lot better than a52s...mind you i have both the devices..i am saying this as an owner of both..

You will realise this was a joke after 1-1.5 years and newer models launches and your existing model start getting broken, bugged software updates ruining your experience eventually forcing you to buy a new phone. The best strategy to counter this is to download software updates only for the first 1 year since launch then on one should be very careful about each update releases and install those only if doubly sure of its reliability.
