Anonymous, 26 Feb 2025Doubt Exynos 1480 throttles... It's still a midrange c... moreWell, I actually own this phone, and you will notice it if you compare it to something faster. So, I'm not saying it throttles badly, but when you start opening and closing many apps, you will notice it. The problem is the RAM management, but it's still a good phone and still works fine for me and will work for most people. I was just doing some extreme testing with it when I noticed it, but most users won't necessarily use the phone the same way I do. So I would still recommend this device for those who want a premium midrange device. And I never use RAM plus, I always disable it. The one I have already comes with 8GB of RAM, which is more than adequate.

I wanna buy it but I have a question
Is it worth going from MI 10t 5g to A55 5g (due to some problems with MI 10t)
Or just wait for a56 to be released?

bot killer, 13 Feb 2025S21 is better than A55/56, that's reality, A series wi... moreI agree somewhat, as I own both the A55 and the S21 plus. The S21 being a 4 year old device is still slightly faster than the A55, and this is also reflected in the geekbench scores which show the S21 scoring slightly higher on multicore performance. The biggest difference I noticed is the RAM management of the S21 is significantly better than the A55. This is very telling, because while the A55 rocks an Exynos 1480 chip on a 4nm process, it throttles and lags while multitasking and opening and closing multiple apps. I have no such problems on my S21 Plus, which is 3 years older and uses an older SD 888 Chip, but is still plenty fast as of today. I really wish Samsung would have stuck with MediaTek chips for their midrange phones like they used in the A34. I bounce back and forth between my S21 plus and the A55. All that being said, while the A55 is a midrange device, it feels like a premium device in hand as its made from premium gorilla glass victus on the front, gorilla glass on the back and an aluminum frame. The only thing you're really missing out on is the flagship chip and wireless charging. However, the fact that it has a premium build and SD card storage makes it a huge draw. I have the 256GB/8GB variety and a 500GB SD card installed. Add to that the fact that it's running the latest (or will be) Android version, and it's a great bargain. Plus you'll be getting 4 Android updates, so you'll get up to Android 18. This is the most premium level midrange device Samsung has ever made, not counting the FE phones which fall somewhere in between the Flagships and Midrangers.

The phone is very good for the price. With the A56 it will become even more affordable. But the Pixel 9a will be interesting too in this segment.
