So it's more of a combination of availability and brand recognition rather than the amount of loyal followers that Samsung phones sell extremely well.

POCO F6 if you're looking for a much faster processor, better display, and much faster charging.

In general, Galaxy A55 is more suited for everyday use, while POCO F6 is more suited for gaming.

I need a new phone but i dont know if i should buy the samsung A55 or the POCO F6. What you guys think I should do?

r.why.me, 23 Sep 2024Oof. That bad, huh? As a fellow PWM sensitive person, I can... moreYeah it is good, though it warms a lot, isn't as efficient and software is less polished. I'm looking forward to the 14 series announced this week because it will (potentially) address some weakness of the Note 13 Pro: faster and more efficient chipset and a telephoto camera.

Anonymous, 23 Sep 2024Based on several reviews I've seen on notebookcheck.ne... moreYup I'm aware of those. They have said in several reviews they've been unable to check those high PWM numbers some companies claim using their equipment, but they've improved recently. There's another aspect to PWM which isn't related to frequency alone, and it is called modulation. This is too aggressive as well in Samsung's implementation.
Worst thing is that I've used Samsung phones with OLED in the past like the A20, and they weren't like this.

Anonymous, 23 Sep 2024Eh, I kinda expected more from the Note 13 Pro, especially ... moreYeah. The Note 13 Pro gets quite warm when charging (even when using a 25 Watt charger instead of the 67 Watt one that came with it) and the battery life is not as good as some competitors with comparable or even superior SOCs. But the battery life has been acceptable for my wife, the display is easy on my her (and mine) eyes, and she likes the pics from the main camera. She's satisfied. She's also getting by with the UI.

Also, I don't think Redmi Note 13 Pro to Note 14 or Note 14 Pro is a worthwhile upgrade. It's just a one year gap. Wait for another year, no?

Good choice on the Redmi Note 13 Pro, by the way. It is an actually decent device from Xiaomi for the likes of us. My wife has one, and the display is good for me. I hate the UI though.

ashrobb, 23 Sep 2024Had to let go mine, the PWM was just terrible. Never had is... moreBased on several reviews I've seen on notebookcheck.net, Xiaomi phones have a wildly inconsistent PWM. Most of them are only at 120Hz like the Galaxy A55. Even the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is at 120Hz. The worst one I've seen is the Poco F6 at a measly 60Hz.

Here are several Xiaomi phones I've checked on notebookcheck.net that have PWM higher than 120Hz:

                        - Redmi Note 13 4G - 389Hz
                        - Xiaomi 14 - 429Hz
                        - Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G - 713Hz

Had to let go mine, the PWM was just terrible. Never had issues with any of my OLED Redmi phones, so I went back to it (Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G).
Shame, because I liked the software experience a bit more, and the battery life was just better. It is also snappier. Maybe in the future they'll adress that and I could get back to it. PWM is the same reason I wouldn't get any iPhone as well.

A small update in this one. (I'm just posting some random findings on the run)

Has worse modem than an iphone 14 - I'm in a village high in the mountain and the a55 lost signal, while the apple here is still holding it.

Dropped calls twice yesterday, while we were still on low altitude.
