IMHO that is the best middle ground between any Chinese phone and Samsung S series. I could even exaggerate a bit saying that S series is kinda offering too little extra for 3x the money for A5x.. i don't think you would miss anything from S series and at the same time won't see any drawbacks of low end phones with crappy software.. just 2c

      If it were purely based on hardware, I would buy only Xiaomi phones and never look back. But it isn't, and I've always disliked Samsung budget (and I mean low-mid range. I love their FE series) phones, always will. Budget is not the correct word to use for them. Unfortunately, Chinese phone companies restrict users, MiUi for example not even letting you choose the accent colours then they do things like putting 'beauty' filters in the camera software (not as bad as you see on the news, it's skin smoothing but it's very obvious), and they make it as far from Android as possible. I've tried flashing a custom ROM to my Xiaomi Phone, it doesn't go well. They are so awkward to create custom ROMs for and special made GSIs and Custom Recoveries brick them. I HATE the onscreen fingerprint reader (we should never have moved on from side mounted), I HATE the thick bezels, I HATE the lack of a 3.5mm jack, I HATE the lack of hardware features like IR port and... a real proximity sensor. It feels like buying an iPhone, getting so little hardware for your money. But damnit their software's good, I've seen Good Lock, Alas, out of lack of choice, I am going with the Galaxy A55.

        Even my Note 10 Lite from 5 years ago could do 4K@30/60fps and 1080p@30/60/240fps

          Samsung should stop manufacturing mobiles with virtual proximity sensor in it. Very important and crucial sensor is not the hardware one. This is a huge problem for the users to use the phone under direct sun light or shade during day time or in pitch dark in night. phone behaves very weird and even it doesn't responds properly to our input.

Or wh... moreCamera is good in good light but averahe at dark....battery life is excellwnt even after 6 months my battery is solid...peromance wise is average...sometimes is really good sometimes average delaying to respond...the animation likewise sometimes smooth sometimes stutters.. its a good phone but dont expect much esp if you come from flagship.

While I don't want to talk ... moreI use my A55 as a smartphone (2nd phone with exynos chip after Samsung Note 2 in 2013) and I don't feel any visible difference in the chip of Samsung S20 FE 5G, A52s 5G and A55 5G (A70 was bit slow when updating the apps).

                  I was using samsung A50, and wanted to buy samsung A55. But charging speed of A55 is slow, specs wise are not good.

                  I bought Honor 200 Pro instead. Honor 200 Pro is more expensive but much better than samsung A55.

                  Now my Honor 200 Pro has been updated to Android 15. Has samsung A55 been updated to Android 15?

                  MagicOS of Honor phone has no problem, been using since Jul 2 2024.

                  A50 to A55, even launched at 5 yrs apart, i couldn't tell there are significant upgrade btw them.

                  The gap of hardware (specs) btw samsung and chinese phone has not been closing.

                  But the gap of software (OS) btw samsung and chinese phone has been closing.

                  I woukd not buy samsung phone unless there are significant upgrade.

                    s35ym., 12 Feb 2025S series are waste because they not have memory card slot. A55 is quite balanced.

                    While I don't want to talk about the exynos chip. I can understand why this is everyone's fav.
                    Even mine one of fav samsung phones.

The smart buyer will check out the forums to see what people who use the phones are writing about them, ask what they have to ask, and then decide. I recommend checking out the OnePlus 12R or the Xiaomi 14T.

                                  Anonymous, 13 Feb 2025Which has a spyware (with ads out of the box), inadequate b... moreI agree partially with you, I own both a Poco X6 Pro and a Galaxy A55 and I can say the OneUI experience really beat up that of HyperOS, it's much more optimized and polished than HyperOS. The A55 build quality is only superior in terms of materials used on the exterior but the rest is better on the Xiaomi, the screen is much better, it has higher resolution and it's also true black instead of being greyish like Samsung's which is really noticeable under sunlight, it has thinner borders, a much faster and precise fingerprint sensor, better speakers, better vibration motor and a more intense flashlight.

                                      bot killer, 13 Feb 2025S21 is better than A55/56, that's reality, A series wi... moreWhich has a spyware (with ads out of the box), inadequate build quality, less durable screen, unoptimized OS, and I gotta say—it's got a great chip and battery; but it's not gonna beat the A55 overall. A55 has better screen (Super AMOLED), long-term software support, better build quality; Aluminum frame, Gorilla Victus+ > 7i, and a glass back. Of course, a better camera sensor. It's just because you guys only has a logic of: "That phone has 700+k AnTuTu score?! That sounds terrible 🤓👆 it's gonna be obsolete—it's never gonna run calculator or PC games in 240000 (whatever FPS these fanboys even caught up of)".

                                        S21 is better than A55/56, that's reality, A series with low-end specs can't even compete with old S series.
                                        Poco X7 Pro > A55, accept the truth or keep crying. 😉
